Digital Designer

We are looking for a strong designer to work within a global technology and entertainment company. You will be there to help the sales teams, editors and 3rd party suppliers to create everything from banners to whole design pages and visuals for pitches and live products.
You will have a strong design background and have previously worked in a similar Online media organization and/or within an agency where they have managed multiple projects with a strong editorial focus and commercial exposure.
You will have excellent communications skills, good relationship building and be confident in your decisions as well as taking on-board others viewpoints.

The role will run until the end of June 2013 and this will be a 2 stage interview process

Role Purpose:
The client sits within a global brand and has developed a specific USP around real-time, image-led story-telling, and social media integration.

Your role will be to coordinate design activity for the client and deliver on specific design requests agreed between the portal leadership and the Global UX team. You will ensure local market designs support the client’s publishing objectives in alignment with the global standards and guidelines.

Responsibilities:
• Generate ideas and develop mocks when required for new portal features or channels, design banners, special sections and logos as required.
• Work with UX team to allocate resources to the UK design work.
• Contribute to evolution of the client’s design through taking feedback from key stakeholders, close collaboration with London-based UX team and your own unique design talent.
• Contribute to the development of new advertising modules.
• Design cross-platform branding for the client’s special reports and features.
• Design house ads.
• Design external presentations as required by the Leadership Team.
• Work with the Specials team to ensure creative solutions align with the brand and USP.
• Work with Home Page team and UX team on projects to increase and enhance Home Page inventory.
• Work closely with the head of Social to ensure effective designs for innovative social features and tools.
• Ensure effective designs for new partner integration.
• Report to the Senior Product Manager and work on editorial and commercial products as required.
• Work closely with the local London UX team, setting up regular 1:1 meetings and sitting with the team one or two days a week.
• Review and guide implementation of commercial projects and sponsorships.
• Communicate status of projects and stages of design to project stakeholders.
• Coordinate external design agency commissions as required.
• Learn and use the content management system to better understand the parameters of feature design for the portal and other platforms.

Skills and Attributes:
• Proven experience developing beautiful design solutions for a major publisher, both editorial and commercial.
• Creative, flexible, collaborative response to design requests.
• Ability to innovate in design while building on and extending the corporate brand values.
• A problem solver with ability to quickly translate requested ideas into creative visual solutions.
• Comfortable presenting project ideas and working in a highly collaborative, deadline-driven work environment.
• Have strong communication and organizational skills and the ability to manage a variety of internal clients.
• Have the ability to adapt and to prioritise work around tight deadlines.
• Attention to detail and ability to identify and correct visual identity and design problems when they arise, and to improve systems to avoid problems.
• Fully competent in the use of Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator.

Basic Experience Required:
- Excellent design skills required.
- Extensive knowledge of software tools for design, production and implementation required.
- Some basic knowledge of HTML required.
- Bachelor''s degree in Design, Graphic Design, Fine Arts, Industrial Design or related area preferred.
