Digital Content Strategist (UI Writer/Content Strategist)

Our client is looking for a UI Writer / Content Strategist to write clear, concise user-interface text for a range of education-related digital products. This person will lead content efforts throughout the lifecycle of digital product development and collaborate closely with product managers, editors, user experience design (UXD), and information technology (IT) to conceptualize, develop, execute, and maintain content that is accurate, consistent, and optimally stored within a content management system.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Write clear, concise user-interface text (UI text).
· Work with design and development team to translate requirements and business goals into site content, navigation, labels and content organization on the user interface.
· Write information deliverables (instructional copy, error messages, interface copy, help copy) relevant to each project.
· Work with QA to resolve bugs related to instructional copy, error messages, conditional copy or site help not matching copy documentation.
· Support projects' overall content requirements and potential content sources.
· Works closely with project sponsors to understand their needs and the needs of their users and to ensure both are met in digital products.
· Guides the iterative copy development process through all stages.
· Collaborates with other content strategists on taxonomies, metadata structures, and content development workflows.
· Collaborates with UXD and IT to determine, define, and document content types and content models that support publishing to Web, mobile, and tablet applications.
· Identifies opportunities where CMS enhancements can increase efficiency and documents those requirements for IT.
· Provides feedback on project plans, wireframes, requirements documents, and related artifacts in anticipation of content needs.
· Follows editorial, accessibility, and other policies and guidelines related to digital content.
· Responsible for content entry, copyediting, and proofreading as needed.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
· Bachelor's degree
· A minimum of 5 years in positions as a UI Writer, UX Designer, Information Architect, Content Strategist, or something similar.
· A deep understanding of UX and how copy and interaction design support each other
· Familiarity with XML, HTML, DITA, data model structures, and taxonomies
· Uncanny ability to identify holes in a user flow
· Experience working in agile product development environment
· Knowledge of how metadata impacts website content and SEO
· Experience in Web content management systems, including experience, understanding of, and comfort with the technical and workflow issues surrounding large-scale digital content projects
· Experience in crafting content through the synthesis of a variety of written sources and other inputs.
· Familiarity with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines and how to implement their best practices and standards
Related Skills & Other Requirements:
· Experience in education-related industries strongly preferred.
· Able to use empathy, reason, and data to inform content choices.
· Extreme attention to detail
· Exceptional written communication skills
· A champion for writing that supports both the content and the user.
· Strong curiosity about users, and how to anticipate their needs by understanding behaviors.
· Calm and graceful under pressure, with flexibility and adaptability to rapidly changing environment, who admits mistakes quickly openly.
