Digital Content Sales & Marketing Manager

A Vitamin T client in Bethesda, MD is in search of a Digital Content Sales & Marketing Manager. The person in this position will have primary responsibility for managing their multi-user, enterprise-level subscription product to both revenue and bottom-line goals. Digital content plays a strategic role in this compnay's financial success and it supports their mission, making this a key role within the organization.

Reporting to the Director of Audience Development & Marketing, the Digital Content Sales & Marketing Manager will focus 75% of his/her time on the continued growth of their enterprise-level subscription product. This product enjoys a broad customer base, ranging from school districts to schools of education to think tanks and government agencies. Each of these organizations recognizes the value of making the clients premium content available to more than just a select few employees. This company has built this relatively new business by partnering digital and print direct marketing, often with a lead generation-focus, with strong telephone sales and customer relations.

The Digital Content Sales & Marketing Manager will develop and execute a marketing plan and will manage the telesales/customer relations staffer. Other responsibilities will include the support of audience development efforts around our Professional Development Directory and participation in product development around new digital subscription/premium products for individual and enterprise-level subscribers.

Major Responsibilities

• Help contribute to the product vision, strategy and management of their multi-user, enterprise-level subscription product around both marketing and sales management
• Drive revenue growth for this product through
- development of creative and ROI-focused marketing (acquisition and retention) strategies
- outstanding execution of these strategies, and
- active sales management
• Analyze product performance and adjust product strategies accordingly
• Effectively manage to the revenue and bottom-line budget
• Contribute to the development of new digital products and services
• Manage audience development efforts in support of our Professional Development Directory

The Person

• Strong revenue and ROI orientation
• Demonstrated success with subscription and/or membership marketing
• Experience with editorial-facing products and strong desire to develop a keen understanding of our content and how it is valued by our audience segments
• 5+ years digital and offline marketing experience, e.g., by leveraging
- email marketing
- landing page optimization
- A/B testing
- search engine, PPC marketing
- direct mail
• Sales/sales management experience strongly preferred
• Experience using the Salesforce CRM to manage leads and sales activity a plus
• Solid understanding of direct response marketing to generate leads and close a sale
• Proven experience mining a house/internal database, and list experience more generally
• Experience with digital new product development
• Familiarity with ways social media is best used to build awareness and engagement
• Understanding of how analytics can be used to understand the customer a plus
• Comfortable with technology in general, including website technologies such as HTML and user authentication
• Ability to prioritize projects effectively and communicate with internal stakeholders
• Exceptional verbal and written communication


A Bachelors’ degree from an accredited and recognized institution of higher learning is required.
