Digital Content Designer

This role is in the content creative team, which is responsible for making digital advertising, social media assets (video, posts, etc) and other digital marketing content. This position is a contract opportunity and is based in downtown Oakland. Long-term contract and/or potential to go full time permanent. 

The Digital Content Designer position is the creative workhorse and spark of energy in the client's Creative Workshop. The Digital Content Designers are creative unicorns and work as our daily hands-on creative professionals for projects. 


  •   Hands-on designer and creator - Design and produce assets for digital/social content on all brands. Develop ideas, concepts, designs, videos, posts; participate in shoots, and more. Some light photography and video creation (iPhone, light equipment). Can mock-up creative ideas digitally and create real-world designs and prototypes (2D and 3D). Works directly with other designers, writers and others to consistently produce high quality design work that delivers against briefs and business needs. Provides design solutions across all aspects of the consumer experience. Prepares final design files for hand off to production partners.

  •   Maker/Collaborator - provides creative skills to team members working on a variety of content projects. Smoothly operates in a workshop environment where all support each other. For example, you may be a lead designer for a social campaign, and then help out as hand model for a quick shoot, help record a voice-over, build a prop for a set, or help style an experiential event.


  •   5 years collective experience in an ad agency, design agency, or in-house design team with a portfolio showcasing your best work.

  •   BFA or MFA in Design

  •   Non-commercial artistic work is a plus. (We’d love to see examples of your passions.)

    Skills and Abilities

  •   A true “creative soul” type of professional designer who can collaborate easily and effectively in an open workshop-style, creative team environment.

  •   A “maker” at heart. As comfortable on the computer as you are with a pencil, paintbrush, hammer, blowtorch, or whatever your tool of choice might be.

  •   Expert skills in typography, layout design, color, design systems, and graphic design elements (logos, icons, etc.).

  •   Ability to flex design style to suit a variety of brand voices.

  •   Graphic design in a variety of projects (digital, 2D and 3D)

  •   Skilled at Adobe CS, Sketch, Invision, and html5.

  •   Motion graphics chops are a plus.

  •   Some experience and/or willingness to learn iPhone app-based content creators for video, AR/VR, etc., like Adobe Spark.

  •   Skilled at presenting creative work to non-creatives and clients. Can clearly articulate a creative point of view and positively receive constructive feedback for revisions.

  •   Tapped in to design trends, design movements and the design community.
