Digital Community Manager

The Digital Community Manager will curate and cultivate online conversations. He or she will execute audience development strategy for an up-and-coming media company's television and online programming across platforms. This role will be charged with generating content, moderating discussions, and responding to user feedback in a way that “drives the conversation” forward. This includes but is not limited to interacting with our robust and vocal online community, moderating and participating in live on-air/online chats, innovating new social and community news features, and engaging a variety of audiences on the company website and related social media outlets across the web.

Responsibilities

- Develop and maintain a witty, informative and consistent voice for all posts and dialogue with fans/consumers
- Identify, analyze and evaluate existing and potential opportunities to grow an audience, encourage engagement and reward influencers.
- Create compelling online content using UGC and audience feedback.
- Record, evaluate and report all feedback given by the social audience.
- Spark insightful conversation with audience around show and site content.
- Organize and execute on social media initiatives as needed.

Skills

- 5+ years work experience in online journalism, social media marketing, online activism, or community management
- Must be extremely fluent and excited about the potential of social media, online community action, and two-way television conversation
- Strong written and verbal communication skills including proven headline-writing abilities
- Expert knowledge of all key social platforms – including Facebook, twitter, reddit, stumbleupon, Pinterest, Google+, and whatever is next
- Familiarity with social analytic tools and application of insights to community programming and social product management
- Proven experience with best practices in community moderation
- Experience publishing to the web including publication using a CMS or community tools and/or knowledge of HTML, photoshop, blog publishing, RSS and other web-related skills are required
- Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism, Political Science, English, Marketing, Web engineering or related area
