Digital Art Director

AQUENT is partnering with what has to be one of our COOLEST clients in the Northern, VA area and absolutely the COOLEST in their industry. They are looking for a Digital Art Director to help build their creative team.

- Works directly and collaboratively with members of the creative team and business partners to develop and produce effective communications.
- Is self-organized and manages multiple concurrent jobs.
- Can fill in for Creative Director, if needed.
- Facilitates presentations and has strong presentation skills; can communicate tactically and strategically.
- Directs and supervises vendors, acts as the liaison to outside agencies and production services, and monitors creative intent
- Demonstrates expert knowledge of advertising and marketing trends and translates business intent into creative strategies and executions that market products effectively
- Demonstrates understanding of intended audience; interprets market research and test results and can use findings to focus targeted marketing messages
- Facilitates brainstorm sessions; recognizes ideas that should go forward
- Monitors projects to ensure creative intent is not diluted.
- Web, mobile and social experience a plus.

Role/Responsibilities Synopsis:
60-70% Digital Art Director:
• Digital first (HTML landing pages, micro sites, websites, mobile, online display banners, social) with print/traditional coming in a close second (posters, direct mail, brochures, out of home, video).
• Highly conceptual (campaign big ideas), exploratory (does due diligence in competitive research, brand landscape research, mood boards, look & feel exploration), credible well versed presence during presentations and able to speak to the work with excitement/clarity/enthusiasm and passion (good at selling the idea and the execution).
• Background in photography shoots, re-touching and video shoots is a mandatory.
• Able to collaborate with external vendors/collaborators for projects and campaigns on a daily basis which will include reviews/feedback/conference-calls.
• Candidate is required to have some (mid-level) production development experience with flash/html5 display banner development and HTML landing-page/website development.

30-40% Design, Illustration and Photography Production:
• This candidate will also be comfortable in the production realm as well.
• Extremely strong graphic design, interface design (UX, UI, wire framing), information design (info graphic and iconography design), has experience shooting photography and photo re-touching background (custom photography as well as stock photography), highly capable in illustrator creating custom iconography and info graphics based on their current design visual language.
• Comfortable with delivering options upon options upon options.

- 4-year degree (preferred) in design or similar discipline.
- 6+ years design and art direction experience.

- Mid to High-budget print projects and campaigns involving supervising other designers.
- Demonstrates industry, conceptual and technical diversity.
- Likely to see unusual or unconventional formats.
- Brochures, videos, storyboards, ad comps, showing evidence of “thinking outside the box” while achieving goals.

Industry Knowledge:
- Direct Mail and/or web design experience required within any industry, (Financial Services, preferred).
- Brings processes, technology or people solutions to the table with regard the design or print process.
- Proven ability to coach and challenge design team to improve the effectiveness of creative.

Technical Knowledge:
- InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop are required.
- Acrobat helpful.
- Web program experience also helpful: HTML, Fireworks, Dreamweaver
