Digital Account Director/ Business Development Manager

My client a, well-established Digital Agency is looking for an experienced Account Director/ Business Development Manager to join their small yet dynamic team. This is a strategic role where you will partner with the MD to come up with new and innovative ideas to take the business to the next level. You will be responsible for converting new business leads, growing existing accounts and managing pre-sales activities within the business.
You will be working with a team of digital producers, designers and developers who share a love of design and all things digital.

The ideal candidate will be innovative and passionate with proven business acumen and relationship-building skills. They will possess self-confidence, integrity and a strategic outlook, which defines their overall approach.

This is an exciting opportunity to work with a full service digital agency based in the heart of Surry Hills. They specialise in bespoke design, open-source digital project AND they foster a happy work / life balance and most certainly enjoy a team pub lunch on a Friday.

Key responsibilities will include:

• The ability to convert new leads into real working briefs as well as identify opportunities for organic growth within existing clients
• The ability to effectively articulate and present the agencies core value proposition in new business meetings
• The ability to gain a solid understanding of clients' business needs and objectives fast!
• Scope and cost technical digital solutions - Open source CMS - Worpress, Drupal and Magento
• Draw up proposals, budgets, technical requirements and project plans
• Run stakeholder workshops to get a clear understanding of the clients brief so the project can be scoped and planned out in detail
• Manage and direct team members who are involved pre-sales activities i.e. wire-frames / design concepts / complicated technical specifications
• Write up detailed project specification documents for the projects deliverables
• Brief in the Digital Producers on project requirements once the project is across the line
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing clients; establish and deepen relationships with new clients
• Attend industry networking events

To be successful in this role you must be able to demonstrate the following:


• A history of generating new business in a digital agency environment
• Advanced understanding of the sales process, commercial negotiations and contracts would be a benefit.
• Minimum 5 years' experience in a digital environment
• A strong understanding of Open source CMS - Wordpress, Drupal and Magento
• A strong understanding of digital products and solutions (mobile,web, eCommerce, internet marketing - SEO, SEM, Social Media, Analytics etc.)
• Experience in managing top tier clients
• Exceptional account management and service delivery background
• Excellent relationship management skills (internal and external)
• The ability to think, approach and interact at a strategic level
• Coming from a technical background would be an advantage
• Appreciation for design
