Our large corporate client in Dallas is looking for a Designer/Production Artist for a two month contract opportunity to create final mechanical files and pre-flight files to ensure quality and adherence to brand standards.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for working on each project throughout the entire creative process from page layout to vendor ready mechanical files for all Company produced publications, printed literature and various support pieces. Ensures that all creative components are delivered on time and in accordance with all printer specifications.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Creates highly detailed electronic mechanical files for each project. Has strong knowledge of layout, graphic design, mechanical and printing production to complete projects. When teamed with an Art Director, works under their guidance to flow copy, size logos, photos and/or designs into position. Responsible for creating a formal page layout from specifications given or creating specifications from design layout. Scans and enhances 4-color or black and white photography and art for placement into design. Prepares layouts for client review. Meets with Art Director to review concepts that were approved by the Project Owner. Executes all changes and enhancements to the original design. Responsible for finding all photography pick-ups and marking layouts for with pick-up instructions. Solely responsible for the production of the Spanish files that correspond to the English version. Pre-flights files, performs quality evaluations and makes necessary revisions in order to ensure quality work while maintaining brand standards. Prepares final files to turn over to the Graphic Production department. Works with GP on all blueline revisions.

2. Designs and produces basic 2-color and 4-color projects as both the art direction and/or production artist. Attend creative briefing with Project Owners and other team members. Research and develop concepts, create layouts, prepare sketches/comps for Project Owner approvals. Selects existing photos or conceptualizes new for photography. If new photography is needed, the incumbent will be responsible for the photo shoot preparation and communicating with art producers, photographers and stylists as well as working with the Graphic Production department on the color corrections. Make creative decisions on layouts and photo placements. Manage all of the production needs in order to ensure the on-time delivery of the final files to the vendor. May instruct other production artists who are working on the same project.

3. When necessary, re-design existing jobs to be formatted for online posting. Freedom to design piece in such a way to be more user friendly in an online format. Responsible for creating pdfs and creating live links within the file. All testing of the links will be performed by the incumbent for both Mac and PC interfaces. Knowledgeable of the layered comp tool in order to perform production tasks on various web projects.
