Our top education client is looking to hire a designer with print and digital experience for a 6 month contract with potential to go longer. Publishing experience will put you at the top of the list.

REQUIREMENTS

·       Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college specializing in graphic design/fine art required, or graduate of an art school or equivalent design work experience.
·       3-5 years of experience as a  Designer required, preferably in a publishing environment and the education market.
·       Strong design and typography skills.
·       Advanced knowledge of CS6; InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop and Acrobat.
·       Strong usability design skills and visual sense
·       Familiar with:  XHTML, Cascading Style Sheets (CSS), Web Standards, and Responsive Design
·       Thorough understanding of print and file management (e.g. server, FTP).
·       Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
·       Ability to collaborate with other groups in a team environment (e.g. Marketing, Editorial, Development Vendors).
·       Ability to self-manage and work independently.
·       Detail-oriented with creative skills.
·       Ability to handle a high volume of work in a short period of time, handle multiple priorities simultaneously and operate in a demanding work environment.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES

·         Under direction of the Design Manager, the Designer may take a lead role on a project, to supervise others in the creative development.
·         May communicate with and oversee vendors as needed. Monitor vendor output for quality and adherence to schedule.
·         Collaborates and brainstorms with Design Manager or Design Lead, marketing and editorial departments to create digital and/or print prototypes and come up with visual solutions.
·         Prototype screens for new or existing products using Photoshop, HTML, CSS and JavaScript for responsive design
·         Prepares final prototypes presentation to upper management.
·         Maintains the integrity of the design through the various design passes.
·         Reviews manuscript with editor to see if there are opportunities to present the information visually.
·         Monitors costs and adheres to company-wide efficiencies to stay within program budget.
·         Works with Instruction Design, Interactive Media teams to create digital style guides.
·         Makes sure that the file organization structure on the internal server complies with department’s file management guidelines
·         Creates technically clean usable art files in compliance with company’s Electronic Pre-Press standards including files built to meet requirements for digital usage.
·         Demonstrated ability to build simple to moderately complex designs including extensive Photoshop manipulation.
·         Stays technically current on all applications used to create designs as well as stays current on all print-ready and digital-ready file construction standards
·         Understanding of Documentum or other server-based content management systems a plus
