Design Program Manager

Our client in San Jose is a major consumer electronics giant and has asked for our help identifying a Design Program Manager to provide project management support for their design studio for a 3 month contract.

This role would also coordinate product feature development between the UX team and globally distributed product planning and development teams. Collaborate well with cross-functional, research and innovation teams to drive product features/asks into the Product.

Professional skills requirements:

Project management for design teams:
Ensure that design team's specifications are delivered on time and at the right level of definition.
Track and drive issues to closure for assigned feature areas.
Following the defined team and organization processes and policies
Provide timely, accurate status as require
Be an excellent teammate and support the lab leadership team as requested.
Help monitor and improve team morale
Ability to interface with the User Research team to develop, run and evaluate end user studies and related research.

Ability to work with all the stakeholders to review and revise product requirements, specifications and designs in a timely manner.
Demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills, including thinking on your feet
Ability to manage multiple independent features simultaneously.
Demonstrate an appreciation and understanding of Design Thinking and great design in own work.

Experience requirements:
5 years of relevant experience in software development; experience shipping one product is required - two or more products is highly desirable.
Preference given to experience working with Android platforms.
Have experience in lean and agile types of development environments.
Hold a track record of success in working across multiple time-zones and in a multi-culture environment.
Must be comfortable with ambiguous design projects - work with interaction, graphic and GUI designers to develop and define user experiences.
Must also be comfortable with well-defined design projects – help design team fill gaps between product management requirements and developer technical requirements; facilitate related trade-off discussions that impact user experience.
