Design Manager

We are seeking a results oriented individual to manage the design department for London, Paris, Amsterdam and Brussels. You should be highly motivated, organised, and able to work in a fast-paced and sometimes pressured environment. Ability to manage a team, work well with others, as well as working independently is key. You will be handling workflow and department scheduling, as well providing support throughout the business with hands on design work and creative input and decision making. This is an exciting opportunity for someone to service the business with design team management, graphic design, internal branding, production, and logistics. The ideal candidate must be naturally dynamic, pro-active, organised and personable and have the ability to multi-task. Strong communication skills are a must!


Design and artworking
• You will have two designers reporting in to you
• You will be the internal brand guardian, ensuring consistency across the region
• You should have very strong branding skills as you will be working very closely with the client's guidelines
• Research and application of client branding for new projects
• Design and artwork complex content - heavy learning solutions which consists of a multitude of documents
• Design internal documents for marketing, conferences and other events
• Logo design for new programs
• Proofread/edit text ensuring the consistency of documents
• Creates proposals in PowerPoint to company corporate standards and provide support to team members with Word

Production management
• Project manage all design work for the region (London, Paris, Amsterdam and Brussels)
• Responsible for department scheduling and workflow for design team members
• Advocates for appropriate time-lines - builds milestones into plans, monitors progress and adjust them as necessary in response to any changes i.e. keeps all informed of conflicts, delays or any other unusual situations and obtains deadline extensions when necessary. Provides clear direction and makes sure that staff knows what is expected of them
• Communicates job status information to all team members
• Works closely with Support Team
• Arranges production and/or orders material, controls stock
• Expedites the inevitable “crisis” jobs
• Awareness of and strategic response to external influences, such as country customs legislation, transportation delays, local bank holidays, etc.
• Works with design teams in other regions globally to ensure good workflow, global best practices, knowledge sharing and constant ideation throughout the business.

Necessary skills:
• High level of proficiency in Adobe CC2016 (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) advanced knowledge of MS Office
• Creative – ability to produce new designs, enhance old designs, and find good solutions to interpreting heavy content visually
• Extremely accurate, with an eye for details
• Good project management and workflow skills as you will be running a schedule for a department
• Good command of English at degree level
• Effective interpersonal skills and communication
• Super organised and flexible: Pro-active, always a step ahead and on top of tasks at hands, communicates needs, instructions and decisions clearly, both verbally and in writing. Adapts communication style to meet the needs of the audience. Uses probing questions to check understanding
• Highly reliable in order to inspire trust and motivate other members of the team
• Good management skills to work with a diverse team
• Resilient
• Shows positive and solution-finding attitude when faced with challenges
• High level of adaptability, able to switch from one task to another quickly and regularly
• Shows confidence to perform own role without unnecessary support in normal circumstances
