Demandware Web Developer

A global consumer brand is looking for a Front-End Web Developer - with experience in Demandware. This will be a part-time, off-site position.

An ideal candidate will have the ability to build a rich, interactive website leveraging JavaScript, CSS, and HTML 5. Put your server side and UI skills to work in a fast-paced and challenging environment. This position will partner with our Systems Integrator vendor, our Corporate Digital IT and Marketing teams, to support the development and maintenance of the luxury brand's web properties.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Develop innovative media and business solutions and implement new features and functionality especially related to client browser-side capabilities including JavaScript, HTML, HTML5, CSS, responsive web design and implementation, media queries, and search engine optimization.
- Participate in the full lifecycle development client-side browser development, implementation, browser compatibility validation, and testing.
- Uses Agile methodology to document progress, code migrations, and status on work assignments and communicates these updates during daily stand ups.
- Evolve the software engineering practice within the organization, especially as it relates to development and support of new web and mobile user interface experiences.
- Passionate about writing reliable, efficient, and maintainable pages and code.
- Possess an excellent understanding of creative tools in order to develop leading-edge web pages with interesting and innovative client-side capabilities.
- Independently driven, being resourceful to deliver results with minimal direction.
- Have an entrepreneurial spirit with a drive to contribute new ideas for future development.
- Committed to continually learning through actively participating in code reviews and solution demonstrations, and participating in educational opportunities.
- Provide complete technical documentation, code comments, and readable code that is properly stored in a version control system.
- Possess an intense drive to learn how to improve core products and services.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- 3-5 years of recent UI application development experience for eCommerce
- Experience in Demandware platform and Demandware Certified Developer
- JavaScript, JQuery libraries, JSON, CSS, HTML experience (HTML5 a plus)
- Experience with Ajax and Flex a plus Experience with commonly used programs, such as Photoshop, Flash, and Illustrator is also needed, as well as basic web server administration skills
- Strong understanding of SQL and data modeling, capable of writing and debugging SQL queries.
- Fluent in object oriented design and development principles
- Experience developing and troubleshooting front end solutions across multiple browsers and devices

- Ability to derive creative solutions to problems
- Strong communication skills; must be able to communicate laterally and upwards to manage different levels of experience and understanding of technical matters
