Defect Manager

My client is an insurance provider based south of London. This is a 6 month contract (will be reviewed for extension), based in Redhill, offeriing £375 - £400/day limited. Position subject to background screening. 

Purpose:
The Defect Manager will be required to work with both internal and external/client facing teams, being the point of contact for all Defect status related queries within the Project. The Defect Manager will be required to learn, support and maintain all aspects of the Defect Management process and offer guidance to the software development and operational teams as and when required. 

Key Duties 
• Chair daily defect triage meetings between test and development teams, based in multiple international locations and to provide clear minutes and actions. 
• Represent the Company at regular external defect status meetings 
• Provide regular detailed trend analysis of defects raised during the different test stages – System Test, System Integration and Acceptance Test within the Project Lifecycle. 
• Chair defect triage meetings between test and development teams, based in multiple locations 
• Provide clear minutes and actions related to the defect triage meetings where appropriate 
• Administration Management of the Defect Tracking Tool 
• Ability to explain issues through and articulate knowledge of the Defect Management process to a wide audience. 
• Definition, ownership and management of the Defect Process. 
• Ensuring all defects are entered correctly and controlled / managed as effectively as possible through their lifecycle.

Key Skills 
• Good working knowledge of Testing methodologies 
• Full understanding of test planning, test scheduling, tracking and reporting 
• Understanding of risk analysis methodologies and their implementation in test 
• Understanding of the different drivers and needs of customers, distributors and partners 
• Ability to forge strong relationships with internal customers, influencing and persuading where appropriate and resolving any conflicts which arise. 
• The ability to chair, own, and steer critical meetings to achieve a satisfactory outcome 
• Ability to manage repeatable standard processes along with an ability to find, own and resolve ad-hoc issues 


Experience 
• Previous experience in Pensions would be essential, especially around DC Processing and Workflows 
• At least 4 years’ experience in leading testing teams across multiple Development methodologies (V-Model, Agile, Waterfall, etc.) 
• Experience in a number of industry recognized test analysis techniques, using ISEB/ISQTB and IEEE 29119 standards and practices 
• Experience in use of defect management tool such as Jira, HP ALM 
• ISTQB Advanced Test Manager certification or equivalent experience 
• Relevant industry knowledge preferred
