Database Marketing Manager

This TOP Fortune 500 Company, known for the tax & small business software, located in San Diego, Ca is seeking a Database Marketing Manager to join their Marketing team for a 1 year contract. Salary: Up to $50/hr DOE.

This person will join a talented team of top performers working in the fast-paced environment in a competitive market. This role will partner with email marketing managers on the team, cross-functional partners and the broader analytics community to improve results through segmentation strategies, on-time deliverables and key insights driven by reporting and analysis.

The position will report directly to the Marketing Operations Manager.

The Database Marketing Manager will be responsible for supporting email marketing activities for the Consumer Group by managing the process of developing and generating customer lists in support of TurboTax products/services.

Responsibilities:

 Work closely with the marketing managers to evaluate the customer target audience criteria and apply their understanding of both direct marketing best practices and available data to recommend the appropriate targeting and data strategy to meet the direct marketing campaign business needs

 Communicate data and segmentation criteria to the programming team

 Perform data audits to ensure accuracy of the customer list generated

 Manage multiple projects simultaneously against deadlines without sacrificing accuracy -this includes significant coordination with cross-functional teams (internal and external)

 Use campaign and fiscal-year data to make data-based, strategic recommendations on how to improve email marketing effectiveness and efficiency.

 Identify and implement process improvements that result in execution efficiencies,higher-impact segmentation strategies, stronger test plans and easier access to customer data

Qualifications:

 5+ years of similar experience in an analytical marketing role

 3+ years of experience in Direct Marketing segmentation and analysis a plus

 Prior experience manipulating large data sets using tools such as: Excel to create actionable information

 Must have advanced experience with Excel

 Must have 2+ years of experience with SQL programming

 Working knowledge of data structure in a relational database (tables, joins etc)

 SAS programming skills a big plus

 Ability to leverage attention to detail and the ability to think/problem-solve analytically, especially as it relates to the utilization of data to meet marketing objectives

 Strong project management skills - proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously against deadlines without sacrificing accuracy

 Detail-oriented, analytical thinker with ability to identify and pro-actively solve problems (ability to look at data audits, understand the relationship between customer segments, identify when counts don't fit criteria etc.)

 Ability to think both in terms of marketing/business requirements and translate them into data/programming requirements

 Understands fundamentals of direct marketing - especially as it relates to customer list selection, targeting and segmentation
