Database Marketing - Senior Manager

Our top retail and real estate development client is looking for a passionate, data-driven and technically-savvy database expert that will work closely with their IS and marketing teams to establish a marketing data strategy and infrastructure that provides a detailed understanding of our shoppers’ and retailers’ behaviors, online and offline, and enables us to deliver data-driven shopper insights, and relevant, timely and personalized communications, services and offers that increase customer acquisition, engagement and lifetime value.

The Senior Database Marketing Manager will apply domain expertise in database management to ensure high availability of timely, relevant and accurate data to improve decision making across the organization, drive continuous improvement and optimization and enable a data-driven culture.

Specifically, this position is responsible for:

• Spearheading the establishment of a centralized shopper warehouse that provides a comprehensive understanding of our mall shoppers’ purchases, demographics, implicit and explicit preferences and interests, behavior, expectations, pain points and unmet needs;
• Leading the evolution of a marketable business-to-business customer database that provides a comprehensive understanding of our retailers, advertisers and other business customers’ purchases, demographics, implicit and explicit preferences and interests, behavior, expectations, pain points and unmet needs;
• Working with key business partners to define and document business requirements for an enterprise customer data and data architecture strategy;
• Scoping out program requirements, time estimates for delivery and resource needs working closely with business partners and IT, and managing cross-functional teams and agencies to deliver against those requirements;
• Leading the integration of the centralized shopper warehouse and personalization engine through our client's various tools, applications and platforms to enable relevant and personalized communications, services and offers to our shoppers/guests at the right time, through the right channels, to drive engagement and value for our shoppers and retailers;
• Continuously improving data quality and marketability through the definition, optimization and reporting of key performance indicators.
• Defining and implementing governance and processes for our client's customer databases and management of centralized schemas, dictionaries

Required Skills and Experience:

• 9+ year track record in database marketing and database management governance, preferably in a business-to-customer environment.
• Ability to find simple, easily implemented, inexpensive solutions for data management problems.
• Proven ability to drive data strategy, effective data use in marketing and related fields, with knowledge of information architectures.
• Solid understanding of all aspects of database marketing operations, data practices, marketing data management and data quality.
• Experience implementing and/or leveraging industry-leading marketing databases/warehouses and BI tools.
• Proven experience scoping and documenting business and program requirements, time estimates for delivery and resource needs working closely with business partners and IT, and overseeing cross-functional teams to deliver against those requirements.
• Comfort translating complex marketing concepts into key strategic components and decision points.
• Exceptional written and oral communications skills. Strong interpersonal skills well-developed organizational skills.
• Extensive experience creating compelling business cases and selling those into executive management teams.
• Proven ability to manage complex projects with multiple stakeholders and vendors to deliver results in a fast-paced, deadline oriented environment.
• Highly flexible, ability to handle changing directions/priorities and roles and business needs evolve.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, adept at presenting complex concepts, information and recommendations into actionable information to diverse audiences
• Ability to travel up to 10% domestically.
• Academic background in marketing, business, technology or related field. Bachelor’s Degree minimum, MBA a plus.
