Data Analyst

Our client, a large Utility company in Birmingham is looking for a Data Analyst with a combination of deep and sophisticated analytical expertise; business acumen; strategic mindset; client, relationship, and project management; and the desire to build new capabilities.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
· Develop and execute complex data analytics programs and projects

· Design strategic research instruments

· Determine the best metrics to answer a question

· Translate research findings into clear, actionable guidance

· Integrate data from multiple sources to answer big questions

· Design requirements for reporting on campaign or project initiatives

· Translate or simplify performance metrics for campaigns

· Analyze content-based PR/marketing programs

· Ensure that analytics are disseminated and understood by stakeholders

· Work with external data and product vendors that provide enabling technologies in the area of data analytics

· Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises, and devise contingency plans

· Manage project plans, timelines, and vendor relationships to ensure projects are delivered with the highest quality

Education and Job Experience
· Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, MIS, economics, marketing, business, or a related field. Masters or Ph.D. a plus.

· Requires a minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in data analytics

· Proven ability to synthesize large amounts of data into visual or textual storylines

Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
· Ability to integrate, mine, and clean large data sets (Oracle, SAS, DB2, etc.), from disparate sources (including unstructured data) to identify insights and patterns using traditional as well as predictive and prescriptive analytics

· Proficiency with industry accepted predictive modeling techniques (Decision Trees, Neural Nets, Logistic/Linear regression, etc.) coupled with the ability to accurately interpret results

· Expert level of data coding and visualization experience with tools such as SAS, SQL or Tableau is preferred

· Detail-oriented, with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects for multiple stakeholders under tight deadlines.

· Outstanding problem solving and strategic thinking skills

· Proficient with Microsoft Office suite

· Expert level with Excel, specifically mastery of pivot tables
