3D Environment Artist (contract)

XTHE POSITION - this is a contract position
We are looking for an experienced individual, who has shipped successful social/mobile and tablet products. We require a seasoned 3D Environment Artist who understands all facets of game art creation. The perfect candidate should understand NextGen techniques and best practices and can apply them to mobile platforms while adding value to our objectives.

MAJOR AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
Responsibilities:
Create beautiful and stunning 3D Environments that are production ready and optimized to maximize performance on a variety of mobile devices.
Help innovate and inspire the team by creating believable environments that enhance the player’s experience.
Work closely with the art director, art lead, and creative team to develop concepts, prototypes, and production ready content.
Work closely with engineers and designers to implement art assets efficiently to allow for rapid iteration of game design and aesthetics.
Work closely with satellite offices and collaborate with cross functional teams.
Create a wide variety of art ranging from environments to characters to props, and some visual effects.
Provide guidance and direction to external vendors and contractors as required.

Qualifications:
Expert knowledge of NextGen techniques such as normal mapping, High and Low Poly modeling. Portfolio should demonstrate mastery of these techniques.
Strong knowledge of lighting, texturing, and CG shaders and the relationship between them.
Thorough understanding of 3D editors such as Unity, Unreal, or similar game engines
Proven experience working from existing concepts, as well as developing your own concepts for asset creation.
Must exhibit strong traditional art skills including: illustration, color theory, composition, architectural design and game level design.
Must understand modular building techniques and be a master at optimization and rendering performance.
Must be able to quickly match existing styles to create a cohesive look as well as help develop ideas to further enhance existing styles.
5+ years of environment art creation in a production environment.
Must be a team player.
BS degree in Fine Arts or equivalent work experience and outstanding portfolio
