3D Artist (Level Artist)

The Level Artist is expected to work closely with the art director and the level designers to realize their vision for a level. You will work with the Art Director to create environment set breakout sheets which gives the environment art team a high level understanding of the environment set component requirements. You will need to collaborate with the environment art lead to ensure the environment set assets are being built to proper spec.

As a mesher, you are responsible for iterating with the Art Director to take a level to artistic completion. You will be expected to evangelize the artistry of the level, while also keeping the level playable and fun throughout, at times having to negotiate or come to a consensus with design. You will be expected to drive issues to resolution and get buy-in from involved parties.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Placing, replacing, and assembling art assets into the level.
• Working with AD to achieve visual direction for the level.
• Collaborating with Level Designer(s) ensuring level is playable and hasn’t been broken.
• Engaging with Level Designer(s) when there is a conflict between art priorities and gameplay priorities.
• Pairing with AD to create environment set breakout sheets.
• Communicating environment set requirements to environment art team.
• Tuning materials and lighting where appropriate.
• Building assets where appropriate.
• Optimizing content to achieve performance profiles and collaborating with technical artists.

REQUIREMENTS:
• 4-7+ years of environment art experience on level based titles.
• Expert in Unreal 4 or Unreal 3.
• Understanding of composition, material and lighting fundamentals.
• Strong working knowledge of Maya.
• Strong working knowledge of Photoshop and Z-brush.
• Shader authoring and scripting are a plus.
