3D Artist

We have an incredible opportunity for a motivated, experienced, professional 3D artist who is highly skilled in creating 3D content for real-time rendering. This artist is up to date and knowledgeable of popular trends in 3D creation techniques, real time content and real time engines across multiple platforms. The candidate will be able to create organic and hard surface 3D models in a variety of styles and uses. Additionally, the candidate should have exceptional 2D artistic skills enabling the creation of texture maps, concepts and storyboards for complex visual problems. The ideal candidate will have a strong eye for color, form, layout and composition.

A candidate with experience working in the mobile games space is a huge benefit. In particular, they should be comfortable working on smaller scale projects with rapid turn-around times and high degrees of self-direction. Consider it a huge plus if the candidate has developed their own apps, either individually or with small groups of people. If you have ever described yourself or been described as a “One Person Army” then this is the role for you! Specifically, this would mean experience with character modeling, animation, lighting, and creating/modifying shaders. The candidate doesn’t necessarily have to be a master of all of these roles, but working familiarity with them is vital to this role.

The candidate should be highly organized, self-motivated and able to adapt and learn in a fast paced environment while working with the latest technologies. This candidate is expected to bring creativity, efficient communication and high impact to all parts of the creative process and to collaborate effectively while working with the Art Director, Creative Director and software developers. You should be able to function effectively in ambiguous situations and react quickly to changing requirements.


Responsibilities may include:
• Create optimized high-quality low poly and high poly 3D models, and accompanying textures for real-time rendering in photorealistic and non-photorealistic styles
• Create 3D content for organic and hard surface models
• Create 2D textures from captured images and by hand
• Generate high quality photorealistic Lightmaps
• Create and iterate on UV layouts
• Iterate in low fidelity to arrive at the best possible design then execute at high fidelity to create and deliver shipping quality visuals and content
• Collaborate in making art and experience prototypes with cross discipline peers
• Work in ambiguity while still delivering timely results
• Take ownership of vision and work through completion seeking out and implementing feedback to constantly improve and refine content.
• Contributes in all phases of product development
• Actively seeks out and accepts feedback from peers, as well as provides feedback to peers
• Executes smaller scale ideas or concepts to high quality quickly and then moves on to new concepts or ideas

Candidate Requirements:
• 5+ years of experience with proven commercial proficiency in content creation using 3D and 2D programs for multiple shipped products
• Superior eye for light, shade, color, form and detail
• Highly proficient with industry standard 3D software like Maya, Softimage, Modo, ZBrush and MudBox as well as 2D content creation tools like the Adobe Creative Suite
• Highly organized with excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Experience working with small groups and/or external partners (such as outsourcers)
• Experience creating Animation Rigs and Animation is a plus
• Experience with Unity is a plus
• Experience working on mobile and tablet experiences is highly desirable
