This is a 3 month, contract to hire role for a Portland branding agency. Beginning initially with the design department, and ultimately extending to development, content or other work product once that department is fully established, become the “go to” source for understanding individual and departmental assignments and workloads
The Creative Services Manager acts as a bridge between the departments that produce and the departments that manage our clients and our business. This role is responsible for staff support; managing internal and external creative resources; project timelines, productivity and efficiency, budget oversight, and ensuring customer requirements are met. This position requires prodigious people skills paired with exceptional organization and a well-honed sense of creative work product.
Manage project assignments, traffic, workload, staff efficiency, and project profitability for departments that deliver creative work product
Support & facilitate schedule of departmental gatherings & agendas
Lead project budgeting, estimating, creating process and workflows, and schedules
Collaborate with Project Directors to proactively provide insight into available resources and timing to complete projects
Build department efficiency and efficacy by ensuring there is a clear vision and objectives (brief) as well as needed supporting information to successfully complete projects.
Collaborate with Creative Director and design team to ensure appropriate systems, staff resourcing, and tools are available to meet our high expectations.
Lead staff “best practices” coaching on prioritization, time management, and productivity etc.
Engender and nurture department culture and camaraderie
Manage vendor and relationship management of current and/or potential future external non-technical resources (e.g., freelancers, photographers etc.)
Oversee QA of design comps and final product; participate as an active member of a project team when the situation arises
TASKS Create, edit, and share reporting documents that show staff assignments and project resources
Oversee time tracking software platform and staff compliance
Maintain stable of external resources for design and other non-technical work
Collaborate in and between departments to solve complex project resourcing, efficiency, and scheduling challenges
Establish and monitor schedule of project “standups” meetings
Develop clear expectations for timing of tasks and project types
Deliver staff time and resource estimates for creation of project estimates
REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE Passionate about people and creative work product
Working knowledge of design, its process, and software tools involved (Creative Suite etc.)
Design management experience
Experience managing multiple large, complex and cross functional projects, preferably in a consulting or agency environment
Strong interpersonal, analytical, problem solving, negotiating, organizational, decision making, and conflict resolution skills
Energetic personality with demonstrated ability to work well with others, motivate staff/project team, and inspire teamwork in a positive way
Successful history of client contact including experience in setting and managing client expectations
Solid understanding of project management methodology including the ability to identify and resolve issues, manage risk, develop detailed work plans and specifications, perform resourcing
Working knowledge of contract interpretation, negotiation, management
Working knowledge of software development, web technologies, web development processes and the delivery of solutions with creative and engineering components
