Profile:
The ideal candidate for this position will be a seasoned direct marketing Creative Director, or Associate Creative Director, ready to take on additional responsibility. He/she will have spent their career as a direct marketing copywriter and be prepared to manage a creative team while continuing to write copy on key assignments (as necessary). He/she will be professional, intelligent and dedicated to the craft of writing effective direct marketing copy.
• Know how to make a sale through the clarity and brevity and be passionate about generating response
• Understand that creativity is a means, not an end, and that it is better to communicate clearly and improve response than it is to create something clever and win awards
• Be well versed in the tactics of direct marketing creative and dedicated to learning, applying and enhancing the agency’s unique creative discipline
• Capable of directing, leading, mentoring and motivating a creative team while managing the creative process to maximize efficiency and effectiveness
• Committed to delivering the highest level of personal dedication and deportment
• Conversant in print, online and social media channels
Roles and Responsibilities
• Lead conceptual, strategic and tactical direction of creative product, including writing copy on significant projects, to it meet agency standards and client expectations
• Implement agency creative discipline and have a working knowledge of related design principles
• Enforce all fundamental writing requirements such as structure, logical sales order, effective introduction and closing, appropriate captions, correct footnotes, information accuracy, correct postal information, etc. within client brand standards
• Make creative presentations and attend client meetings when appropriate
• Efficiently assign projects to creative teams and manage work flow to ensure internal and external creative schedules are met
• Manage and mentor creative staff, including hiring, performance reviews, disciplinary actions and terminations when necessary
• Be well versed in print and online direct marketing, print production/online formats, specifications and postal regulations as well as client’s product detail, legal limitations and industry marketing trends
• Champion agency policies, procedures and management strategies
• Maintain a high level of professionalism and set a positive example for the staff
