Awesome contract to hire opportunity for a Creative Director with a global retail design agency! This company believes that playing is to work and work is never labor! The Creative Director is a brand-building machine that has rocked the Creative Director role and with at least 10+ years retail design and agency experience.

The Creative Direction drives the response to the creative brief, structure of the team and work, creative strategy, and creative solution, and the approach to the overall project. This person champions and protects the brand and/or creative idea while leading and inspiring teams to deliver the best creative solution that transcends touch points (environmental, in store, event, print, etc.). Leading should come easy whether it’s presentations with clients or inspiring the account management team. The Creative Director is accountable for ensuring that creative deliverables are aligned with the brief and meet or exceed client expectations. Establishing and maintaining consultative relationships and becoming a trusted advisor to clients is a must!

Client Job Responsibilities:

  • Maintains senior-level relationships with clients including senior marketing/brand managers, and agency players. Establishes trusted advisor relationships in which clients and colleagues seek out advice and counsel.
  • Is a strategic partner to assigned clients by demonstrating a deep understanding of their market and business sectors and their specific challenges and opportunities. Provides thought leadership, insights, and perspectives that support client initiatives and align our services with client needs.
  • Maintains close relationship with the client’s assigned leadership contact to ensure Creative Design deliverables (i.e. visual concept, design, textual content, etc.) follow project specifications and meet or exceed client needs.
  • Monitors progress of ongoing Creative Design projects; provides guidance and leadership to address and resolve promptly, accurately, effectively, and to the client’s satisfaction, any issues or problems that may arise.
  • Ensures high quality standards in all Creative Design client deliverables.
  • Creates strong and effective internal partnerships with Client Growth, Brand Development, and Brand Deployment teams; collaborates across the business to ensure client needs are met and projects stay within scope, budget, timeline, quality, and other Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Leads ‘post-mortem’ project review sessions for assigned clients; utilizes information from review sessions to recommend best practices for design strategy, concept creation, visual innovation, message delivery, and execution.
  • Regularly analyzes the performance of the Creative Design project team (Art Direction, Design, Production) through KPIs and other metrics; utilizes data in decision-making to maintain or improve team performance.
  • Develops creative, innovative, and cost effective Creative Design strategies that meet client needs, utilizing project experience, current market trends, competitor intelligence, and innovative thinking.

  • Growth Job Responsibilities:
  • Supports Company’s profitability efforts by encouraging and actively enabling innovation, creativity, and cost efficiency through all Creative Design client activities.
  • Ensures client retention is maximized by delivering custom tailored solutions to meet clients’ objectives and expectations.


  • Who we’re looking for:
  • College degree (e.g. Bachelor of Arts) or equivalent degree within appropriate discipline such as Industrial Design, Graphic Design, Architecture, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the key accountabilities of the job required.
  • Graduate degree or previous leadership experience (Masters of Business Administration) highly preferred.
  • Proven Creative Design experience in a Creative Design Agency or similar functional area within a similar client environment.
  • Previous experience supervising others.
  • Experience in leading relationships and helping clients develop and deploy Marketing Initiatives within one or more industries.
  • Ability to build sound business cases to support innovative initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of the Company’s market and business environment and how it impacts business decisions.
  • Strong understanding of effective Creative Design practices, trends, techniques, and processes across various touchpoints or disciplines.
  • Strong problem-solving skills; ability to proactively identify and implement effective solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to build new relationships and nurturing existing relationships with internal and external clients.
  • Strong understanding of the Nike’s products and services and broad business strategy and challenges.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and adapt to the requirements of various client accounts.
  • Demonstrated ability to make effective decisions in challenging situations and/or under pressure.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor and manage individual contributors.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well in a team environment and develop collaborative relationships with colleagues across the Company; willingness to work with colleagues at all levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage heavy workloads, prioritize work appropriately, and meet assigned deadlines; excellent organizational and analytical skills (including attention to detail).
  • Strong presentation and communication skills (written, verbal).
  • Proficient computer skills (e.g. MS Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite)
  • Ability to travel to client locations and installations as needed.
