Creative Director

One of our valued Fortune 500 financial service/investment clients, a privately held global financial services firm who provides asset management, investment banking, capital markets services, insurance services, and institutional finance solutions, is searching for a talented, versatile, and strategically-minded Creative Director.

As Creative Director, you will lead the creative exploration and execution of brand in cooperation with an internal creative services team, marketing leadership, and outside agencies. This role requires energy, enthusiasm, immaculate attention to detail, and an ability to leverage conceptual thinking alongside hands-on design. In addition to proven experience leading and managing a creative team, the candidate will possess a sophisticated aesthetic in developing original design concepts, marketing campaigns and digital media productions. We are looking for someone who isn’t afraid to look at projects and say, “We can do more.” The Creative Director will lead a highly collaborative team of 6-7 designers within a larger marketing team of 30 professionals. The position is located in New York and reports to the Corporate Marketing Director.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Lead creative from ideation to final production for multiple channels (executive presentations, sales collateral, digital communications) as well as internal creative needs
Partner closely with marketing and senior leaders across the Firm to understand the business and marketing strategies and deliver exceptional creative executions
• Manage and develop a talented team of digital and print designers, production artists, and freelancers (includes coaching, training, prioritization, performance, and accountability)
• Collaborate with agency partners to continuously drive the brand forward, providing clear creative direction, inspiration, and feedback
• Execute layouts, comps, presentations, and story boards for a variety of creative projects

• Stay current on industry creative to continue to deliver new, competitive, and relevant thinking
• Manage and negotiate workflow with project manager to ensure workload level matches allocated creative resources and jobs are properly matched with creative talent and capacity
• Partner with management to recommend appropriate vendors and creative resources

• Maintain a strong understanding of brand standards and their application ensuring that all materials ladder up to the brand strategy

• Support creativity across three business units including Investments, Securities, and Insurance Services

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
• 8-10+ years experience in leading creative functions as a creative director and/or art director on the Agency or In-House side

• Experience directly leading creative teams with a proven history of success

• Bachelor’s degree in design, advertising design, graphic design, digital design, or related fields
• Strong portfolio demonstrating a diverse range of experience including print, advertising, digital/interactive, presentations, and events
• Exceptional expertise and mastery in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign, Proficient in Microsoft Windows Business Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
• Exceptional illustration of conceptual thought processes and visual style

• Superior presentation and communication skills, both written and oral, with an emphasis on articulating complex ideas simply

• Highly adaptable with the ability to exercise patience and understanding throughout the creative approval process
