Creative Design Lead

This investments corporation is currently transforming how they deliver content to

investment advisors and investors. To support this direction, the Creative Services

Department is looking for a Creative Design Lead. Reporting to the Creative

Director, the successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of

the Design team.

This position requires a motivated, detail-oriented player-coach whose team will

produce compelling, engaging visual content in support of both brand and editorial

content related to solutions, and the people who manage them.

The ideal candidate is someone who understands the importance of compelling

design concepts in communicating a clear message across all types of media. A

strong understanding of the requirements of digital content is essential.

Essential Functions

 Provide design direction and produce visual content for websites, print

magazines, presentations, sales collateral and other digital and print properties

 Lead the establishment of a distinct visual standard that supports the Mackenzie

Investments brand

 Manage and review the work of a six-person team of designers in all media

 Help transform marketing strategies into compelling, relevant and easily

consumable marketing content

 Work with the Editorial team to apply design to copy-based marketing concepts

that reinforce the brand

 Act as a contributing member of the Creative leadership team, providing input on

multiple initiatives

 Collaborate with marketing strategists, project managers, members of the digital

strategy and distribution team, to complete tasks on schedule, according to spec and

on budget

Qualifications

 Strong design skills gained through formal training in Graphic Design and Digital

Design

 5+ years’ design experience, especially in a financial/investment company setting

 Demonstrated leadership skills and an aptitude to manage people

 Ability to communicate and instill creative direction among Design team members

across multiple content types

 Ability to judge design concepts and content, and provide guidance to Design team

members

 Expert understanding of the use of visual content in the digital space

 Expert knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop,

Dreamweaver, InDesign, Flash and HTML

 Advanced capabilities in Microsoft Office programs, especially PowerPoint

 Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills

 Ability to work towards and meet specific deadlines
