Corporate Communications Specialist

Aquent’s Detroit energy client is immediately looking for a part-time Corporate Communications Specialist (ideally increasing the hours to 40 per week soon) to support employee communications. The ideal candidate will have very strong writing skills and internal communications experience, including communications planning experience. The Corporate Communications Specialist must be comfortable writing for a variety of vehicles, which include enewsletters, banners, electronic message boards, and email communications. Must be a strategic thinker and understand what makes a successful message and why as well as the importance of the audience.

Projects will include messaging for political action initiatives, developing the messaging around new tools that will be pushed internally, and using written storytelling methods to recognize people who consistently live the company’s values, as well as other projects as they materialize.

Requirements:
• 3+ years of experience
• A degree in journalism or communications
• Very strong writing skills
• Intermediate communications planning and project management skills—must be a strategic thinker and organized!
• Ability to work on a team that includes designers, and ability to work with a variety of contacts including those in IT and other areas of the business
• Candidate must be a self starter with high energy and the willingness to share ideas and recommendations
• Needs to be comfortable pushing back if a recommendation is off strategy
• Must be able to tolerate revisions and changes throughout an approval process
• Should be able to produce samples of work and explain the specifics behind each piece, what made the project successful
