Corporate Communications Manager

Our financial services client is looking for an experienced Corporate Communications contractor to help coordinate and implement communications programs. He or she will also have broader responsibilities supporting the Crisis Communications team with developing communications to respond to business critical issues. We are looking for a dynamic team player with exceptional writing and critical thinking skills. The ideal candidate will have experience in message development, media relations, and collateral material development. Additionally, the ideal candidate will exhibit great diplomacy, strong research and problem-solving skills, and demonstrate the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Support day-to-day communications around various business efforts. Specifically, writing, contributing to the execution of reactive and proactive media relations, story development and pitching, message development, and developing online and social content.
• Create high-quality written materials, including but not limited to: news releases, fact sheets, executive briefing materials, blog posts, white papers, opinion pieces, and related collateral and social media extensions.
• Work with key business units on communications that support business initiatives or defend against reputation threats related to its operations.
• Manage public affairs/issues content on the corporate website. Draft and edit new content. Identify opportunities to promote content with key stakeholders.
• Develop and execute media programs. This includes building and maintaining reporter relationships, identifying story ideas, pitching stories and tracking coverage.
• Develop and employ social media / digital media programs to advance communication /reputation goals and support core media relations activities.
• Assist with logistics and planning for events.

Qualifications:
• Bachelors degree
• Prior PR agency experience preferred; crisis communications and/or political experience desired.
• Exceptional writing and editing skills. Must be able to develop content under deadline pressure.
• Established media experience a plus.
• Excellent verbal communication skills, including interpersonal and presentation skills.
• Approaches everything with drive, urgency and energy. Ability to work well under pressure, prioritize multiple projects, achieve results in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, and thrive under deadlines
• Demonstrated adaptability and professionalism
• Willingness to roll-up sleeves and get the work, big and small, done.
• Proven ability to think ahead, engage proactively and take initiative.
• Self-starter, strong problem solver and project owner.
• Strong attention to detail.
