A senior level Advertising Media & Sponsorship Consultant is needed at a Fortune 500 Life Insurance company in NYC to:
• Manager a $40 million corporate advertising campaign for all business units, national and local media, sports sponsorships, brand integrations, co-op advertising and B-B trade campaigns.
• Secure innovative media placements and efficient prices that greatly enhance New York Life's visibility and brand image.

Scope and Positioning of Role
• This role reports directly to the head of Branding & Advertising; which reports to the head of Corporate Communications. It is a high-level individual contributor role - not a people manager, but must be able to influence and lead others and projects.
• The department consists of 5 other branding & advertising professionals ranging from mid-senior level; this position is the highest level within the department.

o With the approval of the Head of Branding & Advertising this role will influence and help lead to the development of strategy of internal and external business decisions.
- Manage vendor relationship; provides thought leadership
- Communicate and negotiate with the most senior levels of management
to influence decisions.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Manages relationship with advertising media agency charged with planning, negotiating and buying advertising and sponsorships.
o Determines the media strategy and media selection in keeping with corporate goals and brand guidelines.
o Direct agency to achieve innovative ad placements that greatly enhance company’s visibility. This includes upfront media deals, scatter purchases and opportunistic media deals for all media including National Broadcast and Cable TV, local TV, National and Local Radio, online display and video, Outdoor, Magazines, and Newspapers
• Develop creative, out-of-the box, media placements, features and sponsorships that are unique and aligned with the company’s value proposition and brand.
• Responsible for providing advice, making recommendations and coordinating, managing and negotiating advertising and sponsorships for business unit initiatives including:
o Determine tracking and research methods used to measure the effectiveness of brand and advertising communications.
o Manage the research vendor responsible for measuring and reporting the health and performance of the corporate advertising campaign and sponsorships.
o Responsible for ensuring that the corporate campaign serves the objectives of the business units and is communicated, leveraged and extended to agents and managing partners on the local level.
o Negotiate with local media vendors so that advertising investments by the Field are in-line with or below market rates.
o Manage the media, research and ad agency fee budgets for the corporate advertising campaign; oversees the allocation of funds and tracking of expenses; prepares seasonal budget for the advertising unit.

Experience
o 10+ Years experience
o A history of recognizing business opportunities, and the ability to turn vision into reality.
o Analyze market climate and develops media strategies that expand market penetration, strengthen brand integrity, and position the company for long-term growth.
o Creative problem-solver and disciplined number-cruncher.
o Scope Accountability:
o Corporate advertising media budget is $40 million with potentially another $5 million for sponsorships. Media agency fees is approximately $1.5 million and research is $450,000.
o Communications/Contacts
Frequent personal, written and phone contact with all levels of Company, sales agents and management, ad agency, media representatives and the general public
