Copywriter

Develop product names and positioning for a major beauty brand. Write copy for packaging, concepts and misc. internal projects

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Create compelling, creative, brand-right beauty copy (i.e., product and shade naming; romance copy for packaging)
- Write trend reports and concept materials
- Proof artwork
- Support Copy Director and Copy Manager
- Represent copy team at various meetings
- Partner with the Concept team to understand to help develop positioning and creative concepts for trend reports, new products and collections.
- Track copy trends throughout the market; serve as language expert
- Co-share creative responsibility with designers for all projects.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- At least 2-5 years of experience as a writer/blogger
- Beauty, fashion and/or trend background a plus
- Good organizational and time management skills; detail oriented
- Performs well under pressure (tight deadlines)
- Takes direction well
- Strength in grammar and copyediting
- Team player: can work with fellow writers and cross-functional partners (designers, merchants, product innovation, etc.). Collaboration is key!
- BEAUTY JUNKIE! Loves any and all things beauty and grooming related. Can debate the merits of hot pink vs. babydoll pink for hours on end. Never has enough room in her/his bathroom for all the products. Has working knowledge of beauty market and trends in general
- Versed in fashion & pop culture: social media, current trends, slang, music, celebs, etc. Must have finger on the pulse of current language
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Journalism, Creative Writing or Communications

This is a 3 month contract position, on-site in NYC with a major consumer company.
