Develops, writes, edits and proofreads copy for internal and external company documents, including but not limited to web copy, advertisements, press releases, product support collateral, and articles. Ensures that all documents and content are consistent with corporate style. Collaborates with graphic designers and web team on creative strategy and execution. Works closely with Content Development team to ensure consistency and quality.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Works with product managers, project managers, creative services team, web execution team and any other relevant stakeholders to define and develop messaging and copy that supports communications objectives.
Organizes material and completes writing assignments according to set standards regarding order, clarity, conciseness, style and terminology.
Proofreads and copyedits public-facing print materials according to set standards regarding language mechanics, voice, terminology and corporate style. Uses standard copyediting symbols and methods to mark documents.
Follows established procedures related to project workflow and document quality control process.
Uses project management software to track and record work and files.
Communicates and collaborates with global communications teams as needed.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university and 4 – 6 years’ professional copywriting experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Background in medical devices or biotech a plus.
Expert communication skills, oral and written. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret varying levels of information in different media, including business reports, clinical studies, product information and more. Ability to effectively present information and adapt written voice to established style and known audience needs. Ability to interact professionally and confidently with staff from all levels of the company, external media professionals, industry partners, customers and patients. Ability to evaluate and edit long documents for consistency, clarity, organization and content. Must have advanced knowledge of grammar and punctuation.
General computer skills. Advanced knowledge of word processing and a high degree of comfort navigating the Internet. Excellent research and communication skills. Basic knowledge of html a plus. Ability to adapt to changing priorities and schedules. Familiarity with Chicago Manual of Style a plus.
