JOB DESCRIPTION: MARKETING WRITER


As part of a dynamic in-house creative agency, the Marketing Writer develops concepts, writes marketing copy and produces other creative text intended to engage, attract and sell for integrated cross-channel initiatives (including direct mail, online advertising, and print collateral) with a focus on product and service offerings in a particular market.

Responsibilities:

• Develop clear, concise and strategic messaging for a variety of materials including emails, sales promotions, banners, brochures, advertisements and other marketing materials; emphasis on direct response and promotions that support key marketing initiatives and and inspire action
• Understand how copy drives response rates and be comfortable with writing subject line, offer and audience tests; produce highly-responsive messaging with compelling calls-to-action
• Collaborate with internal teams and clients to understand market business objectives, message and audience
• Condense large amounts of messaging and information into succinct consumer communications
• Write customer-centric copy that uses the appropriate voice for a particular user or market segment
• Partner and work closely with colleagues in design and marketing on concept development and execution of messaging
• Exercise quality control on all copy, including obtaining approvals, fact-checking and editing/proofreading
• Help ensure all marketing communications maintain a high level of quality, feature a consistent tone and style and support and reinforce the brand

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in English, journalism, communications or related field
• 3-10 years of consumer marketing copywriting experience including email marketing, banner, direct mail and promotions experience; SEO experience strongly preferred
• Exceptional writing skills and attention to detail
• Passion for writing creative, strategic marketing copy
• Articulate thinker able to quickly absorb product/market knowledge, internalize creative direction and actively contribute to strategic brainstorming, campaign development and creative execution
• Proven ability to balance brand voice with direct response effectiveness
• Ability to align creative concepts with marketing strategies
• Ability to adapt writing to the brand voice and to write across a variety of media including email, online and print
• Able to effectively multi-task in a deadline-driven environment and meet tight deadlines
• Outstanding communication, time-management and editing/proofreading skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to work effectively as a member of a fast-paced, driven marketing team
• Proficiency in MS Office and other applications commonly used in business environments; HTML knowledge a plus
