Copywriter - Content Writer

Our client is seeking a strong conceptual Copywriter with expert content writing skills in the digital space. They’re looking for more than just a great wordsmith, and expect their copywriter to have ideas, imagine innovative solutions to problems, and provide inspiration to creative partners and leaders.

This role requires the ability to devise original, strategically sound and persuasive copy that is in line with client direction and immediately understandable by consumers.

The candidate is responsible for researching, organizing, writing and editing information across all digital platforms for the company’s consumer-oriented health and wellness portals and mobile experiences.


Responsibilities
• Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team (User Experience and User Interface designers, Business Analysts, Developers, business owners) to define and deliver content requirements and create highly usable and compelling online experiences.
• Self-directed and independently motivated with an action oriented, can-do attitude.
• Attend briefing sessions and incoming job starts, creative briefs and other forms of project initiation to make sure the team has all the right information and sufficient time to deliver the best creative solution possible
• Where necessary, challenges preconceptions and propose alternative approaches or solutions where these will more effectively achieve the objectives identified in the brief
• Maintains open lines of communication with all team members
• Write-ups of creative concepts for presentation to clients and internal teams
• On approval of concept, prepare full copy and incorporate client revisions and other stakeholder feedback as appropriate
• Write accessible content reflecting expertise in health insurance and health and wellness topics that aligns with stakeholders’ (consumer-users, business owners) requirements
• Optimize copy to align with User Experience and findability best practices
• Understand and keep abreast of user-centered vocabularies specific to the health insurance and wellness industries
• Research trending topics and emerging questions (opportunities to educate and clarify) within the health insurance and Medicare industries, and reflect this research in the content publication cadence
• Prepare submission materials for legal and compliance review(s), where necessary


Required Qualifications
• A minimum of five (5) years relevant work experience in copywriting and team orientation, with a minimum of two (2) years experience writing for web-based audiences
• A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree, or the equivalent in relevant experience
• Provides writing support and expertise on a wide variety of team projects ranging from desktop, tablet, to mobile.
• Strong verbal communication skills, including the ability to speak effectively with clients, staff or other internal and external groups
• Capable of juggling multiple projects, sticking to deadlines and ensuring high-quality error-free output
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to meet deadlines
• Demonstrates subject matter expertise in the areas of health, health insurance benefits, and more general health and wellness topics; or demonstrated ability to quickly to develop proficiency in these subject areas
• Demonstrated professional and/or academic writing experience, including a strong command of English and nuanced understanding of word shadings, sentence structure, syntactical clarity and variety, and style
• Ability to write clearly and concisely for defined target audiences
• Takes responsibility for initial spell checking and then amendments to own copy in light of clients’ comments
• Solicits “the right information” upfront translating to a better product the first time
• Working knowledge of and demonstrated experience in user-centered design principles and best practices in writing for the Web
• Working knowledge of content strategy
• Strong online and offline research skills
• Strong editing and proofreading skills
• Ability to maintain sensitivity, understanding and respect for the variety of consumer-user healthcare needs.
