Copy Editor (full-time OR part-time)

Overview
Our client, a fast-growing online childrenswear retailer, is looking for a proactive and creative Copy Editor to join their editorial team based in Tunbridge Wells. The role can be full-time or part-time (3-4 days p/week), with some flexibility to remote work.

We are looking for an ambitious self-starter who can create exciting and beautifully written content to support the brand’s values and tone of voice, and vision of being one of the most highly regarded childrenswear stores in the world. Sitting within the Editorial team, you will be responsible for the brands tone of voice online, and over time, bringing on a team or junior writers as the company grows.

Key responsibilities
• Be a brand guardian, and ensure a consistent tone of voice across all content
• Write, edit and proofread copy for a variety of channels and platforms, including online, newsletters and social media
• Sub-edit the work of others from various internal sources, to ensure a consistent brand message
• Proofread content to ensure that everything is grammatically and factually correct, and adhering to brand guidelines
• Support the Features Editor to ensure that projects and deadlines are met
• Mentor and guide junior staff where necessary, and help them ensure deadlines are met
• Research and pitch potential content ideas to the team
• Work closely with the Features Editor, PR Manager, and Managing Editor to ensure that content for wider marketing is of the highest standard
• Work closely with the SEO team to ensure that content is best optimised for online visibility and acquiring new customers

Key Criteria
• A proven background in creating engaging, consumer focussed and commercially driven content for a variety of platforms
• Excellent English writing skills with an extensive editorial awareness
• Solid sub-editing and proofreading experience
• The ability to deliver in a fast-paced environment, with accuracy and meticulous attention to detail
• The ability to lead and mentor junior staff
• A basic understanding of SEO best practices
• Experience or a keen interest in fashion retail is ideal
