Copy Director (Copy Chief)

Works with the Creative Director to develop creative strategy and execution across multiple platforms. And works closely with the Marketing team and business partners to translate business strategies, vision and marketing plans into compelling creative solutions that connect deeply with Customers. Responsible for copy standards and guidelines for all Customer communication, as well as managing and developing copy staff across remote locations to ensure consistent execution of all creative solutions.

    Essential Job Functions:
  • Work with the Director, Creative Services on overall creative strategy.
  • Collaborate with Art Directors and the senior marketing team to incorporate copy planning into the execution of marketing initiatives for assigned business units and/or the enterprise.
  • Strong understanding of how to translate business objectives and our client's communication principles into compelling creative execution.
  • Lead the copywriting team with effective strategies, coaching, and inspiration.
  • Manage Copywriters’ daily direction and workload.
  • Establish and oversee best practices for writing and Company brand standards across all channels, including, but not limited to,print, broadcast, digital and social media.
  • Manage copy team to budget, ensuring all activities are executed on time and within budget.
  • Communicate regularly with department leadership, ensuring strategy and projects are on track, gaining support and guidance.
  • Manage workload to facilitate efficient resource utilization and supervise freelance work as necessary.
  • Provide guidelines and best practices for the production copywriter team.
  • Attend business partner meetings, as needed to understand changes in strategic direction, new business, etc.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Supervise and coach direct reports in the performance of their duties; complete performance reviews and provides feedback to direct reports.
