Content Writer/Editor

The Content Writer/Editor will assist with collecting and organizing information required for the preparation of documents, training materials, guides, proposals, and reports. 

Provide technical edits to engineering documentation, software documentation, manuals, reports, or any other documents or presentations. 

Use strong writing, editing, and communication skills to analyze and present. 

 Strong technical competence is required. 

Any pre-testing (i.e. coding , ux/ui tests) you can do, will increase your odds for greater success 

For Writers – READ their writing and determine if their sample is something you put on your website 

A Strong WebFirst Candidate will be: 
Team Players (communicates openly & frequently with team members, and managers; desire to understand big picture as opposed to the piece they are working on; asks questions and open to feedback)  

Local to DC area (some cases partial telecommuting is possible) 

Can Pass public Trust (for ext. government positions) 
Experience in an Agile environment 

EXAMPLE OF A DELIVERABLE THEY'D BE WORKING ON: 

Generate new content for a recently re-launched website featuring health 
Conduct interviews and draft articles. 
Help implement new brand guidelines across the Development department. 

TOOLS/MUST HAVES:  

Basic Qualifications: 

-3+ years of experience as a technical writer 

-Experience with Microsoft Office 

-Ability to work with teams to obtain a general comprehension of scientific and technical information, documentation content, and requirements 

-Ability to analyze existing and potential content and suggest enhancements to content and its presentation and develop diagrams, charts, and graphs that increase the user’s comprehension 

-Ability to standardize content across document and briefing libraries 

-Ability to develop high-quality documentation with minimal guidance that is easy-to-understand, easy to use, meets applicable standards, and meets the objectives and goals for the intended audience 

-Ability to revise documents to remain current to the projects progress 

-Ability to pay strong attention to detail and communicate effectively 

Additional Qualifications: 

-Experience with supporting Federal Health related clients 

-Possession of excellent writing and organizational skills
