Aside from being an exceptional writer, the ideal candidate is creative and business minded —demonstrating the ability to write clear, compelling copy that drives people to action. Clever phrases and creative concepts aren’t all you care about, you’re passionate about developing strategies and multi-channel communication plans that work. You have a keen familiarity and enthusiasm for trends in online marketing and advertising and appreciate the art of excellent copy. Under the gun you do whatever it takes to keep projects on track while keeping messaging on target.

Functions/Tasks
Strategic Planning and Communications
- In collaboration with the Sr. Director, Marketing and Digital Outreach, create and implement strategic communication plans to increase engagement and involvement.

Content Creation, Management and Distribution
- Identify audience-appropriate event messaging and write remarks for leadership, as well as scripts for large-scale events.
- Maintain/oversee consistent messaging and utilize in all marketing and communication efforts.
- Draft and/or edit content for website
- Write and review copy for promotional marketing materials including invitations, announcements, direct mail materials, brochures and other collateral, as directed.
- Write, review and/or edit content for e-newsletters, email blasts, drafted letters, advertisements and marketing materials.

Media Relations/Public Relations
- Write news releases and identify photos or graphics to accompany stories; collaborate with UCPA senior director of marketing and communications, whose team will pitch ideas, as well as targeted national, state, and/or local print and broadcast media.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Proven experience writing compelling, memorable marketing and advertising copy
- Superior written and oral communication skills
- Ability to work with a high level of independence and demonstrated organizational skills to prioritize assignments and meet deadlines
- Thrives under pressure with the ability to coordinate multiple assignments, maintain confidentiality, prioritize work, and fulfill assignments on schedule
- Demonstrated ability to work with others in achieving organizational goals
- Skilled at interacting professionally with diverse groups and project stakeholders
