We are seeking a strong Content Writer for a maternity cover within a global technology/media company, based in Central London but you will be working with a US based team. You will be keeping up to date with breaking news trending on the Internet as well as creating and commenting on articles, news and blogs within a live feed environment.

You will write in real time on any and all topics that are trending on the web and will have an interesting background on their CV in writing and content. You must have an understanding of the US culture and the nuances that go with it.

We are looking for someone who has recent US editorial experience and experience writing news-based content for constant deadlines in a fast-moving, flexible environment. This will preferably be for a well-known site, newspaper, agency etc.

Our client requires someone to start ASAP. This role will initially run until the end of June 2013 but could be for up to 12 months.

Salary is up to £30000. It must be noted that this position will be on a shift pattern.

We need an enterprising digital writer who is passionate about trending topics across digital platforms (social networks and search engines). The ideal candidate will thrive on working under continual deadlines, be an excellent writer able to publish without a proofreader or fact-checker and is proficient with common online publishing tools. We are looking for someone bright, highly reliable and responsible, fastidious about detail, and engaged in such platforms as Facebook, Google+, Twitter, Tumblr, Reddit, LinkedIn, etc. This job involves identifying trends, quickly researching them online, and publishing original content that compels engagement.

- You will be a social person and into pop culture who personally uses Facebook & Twitter.
- You will have a deep understanding of how different social networks operate, why social is important and how to make it valuable. You will need to be a good communicator.
- Passionate about community and have the capacity to understand, engage with and grow social audience.
- You will need to be interested in experimenting with different tactics to drive results, coupled with a demonstrable curiosity to stay current, learn and find new approaches.
- Have journalism experience.

Your accountabilities:
- Identify trending topics, using the “Demand Dashboard” along with secondary sources.
- Research into topics via Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, and other social sites to get the stories behind the trends.
- Write 100-word “infosnacks” that encapsulate the trends in a snappy, compellingly shareable way.
- Identify related links (both on and off the Network) that add context to the “infosnack.”

Basic Experience Required:
- Work related experience required.
- Demonstrated ability to write content in the designated area required.
- Must have the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Must be able to work under deadline pressure.
- Familiarity with one or more standard style guides required.
- Must have the ability to write to the specified style guide/format.
– Bachelors degree in English, Communications or related area preferred.
