Training and readiness are key elements to having a sustainable commitment to accessibility. We are looking for a skilled content writer to engage with our Learning and Development team to create and develop collateral on accessibility design, development, and features to help educate and motivate a variety of audiences.
We are looking for support in developing online and/or in-person workshop materials on topics ranging from technical (accessibility API’s, XAML framework, etc.) to topics that are more generic (writing good alternative text for images, formatting complex newsletters in an accessible way, etc.).
Your content authoring and editing expertise, instructional design techniques, and familiarity with the accessibility community will help you deliver exceptional results in this role.
Job Overview
- Work directly with the Accessibility Learning and Development lead to create new training materials and update collateral for existing topics.
- Edit work from multiple training partners to make the final deliverables as impactful as possible.
- Incorporate feedback on materials/courses from trainees to keep content applicable.
Key Responsibilities
- Help design and develop learning content for technical and non-technical users on multiple topics.
- Ensure final deliverables are accessible and usable by all audiences.
- Collaborate with multiple partners on training topics for different business needs.
Skills required
- Ability to convey complex information in a simple manner.
- Attention to detail, especially in content editing efforts.
- Experience with designing, developing, and delivering learning solutions across modalities.
- The ability to write assessment questions through traditional testing mechanisms (e.g. multiple-choice questions), as well as scenario-based testing scenarios.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with peers and engineering teams.
Skills requested
- Understanding of accessible software and/or hardware
- Experience creating accessible training media (e.g. closed captions on videos)
- Basic knowledge of how a screen reader works
- Basic understanding of software development
