Content Strategist with Drupal Experience

Vitamin T's client, a nonprofit organization that connects students to college success is looking for a Content Strategist to join their team. This is a temporary role for roughly 3-6 months with the potential to be extended should this be a good fit.

The Content Strategist is responsible for ensuring that digital content is user-centered and engaging, meets high quality standards, and furthers the organization's mission. S/he is a direct contributor to the development of websites, apps, and other digital products, working closely with a multidisciplinary team to conceptualize, develop, execute, and maintain digital content.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Works with project sponsors to understand their needs and the needs of their users and to ensure both are met in digital products
• Contributes to copy development at various points in the editorial process, from substantive editing thorough copyediting and proofreading.
• Experience in conducting content audits, creating content models, structuring content, and revising content to fit new templates.
• Works with other content strategists as needed to ensure taxonomies, metadata structures, and content development workflows meet editorial needs.
• Collaborates with UXD and IT to determine, define, and document content types and content models that support publishing to Web, mobile, and tablet applications.
• Identifies opportunities where CMS enhancements can increase efficiency and effectiveness in content development and maintenance workflows and document those requirements for IT.
• Follows the organization’s editorial, accessibility, and other policies and guidelines related to digital content.
• Responsible for content entry, copyediting, and proofreading as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Experience:
• Bachelor's degree
• A minimum of 5 years in positions as a content strategist, editor, information architect, UI writer, or something similar.
• A deep understanding of UX and how copy and interaction design support each other
• Experience in Web content management systems, especially Drupal, including experience, understanding of, and comfort with the technical and workflow issues surrounding large-scale digital content projects
• Uncanny ability to identify holes in a user flow
• Experience working in agile product development environment
• Knowledge of how metadata impacts website content and SEO
• Experience in crafting content through the synthesis of a variety of written sources and other inputs.
• Familiarity with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines and how to implement their best practices and standards

Related Skills & Other Requirements:
• Experience in education-related industries strongly preferred.
• Extreme attention to detail
• Exceptional written communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to apply editorial skills as part of a team in a structured editorial process
• Able to use empathy, reason, and data to inform content choices.
• A champion for writing that supports both the content and the user.
• Calm and graceful under pressure, with flexibility and adaptability to rapidly changing environment, who admits mistakes quickly openly.
