Content Strategist

Searching for a Content Strategist who is user-centered (UX copy) from concept to launch and can be a project lead.

Content Strategist should have the following:
• Passion for customer experience and problem-solving.
• Team Player who isn’t afraid to stand up for what you think is right.
• Diplomatic and flexible, and an influencer.
• Big-picture thinker who still sees every detail.
• You know the difference between content strategy and writing, and you do both well.
• Understands the user-centered design process, including personas, task analysis, task flows, content audits, content strategies, and user testing.
• Understands what’s technically possible, and how business rules work with customer experience.
• Organized and able to work on several projects at once
• Work is more informational vs. marketing
• Understands implementation with strategy; content strategy; collaboration with team
• Has done customer-facing digital experiences; product pages, educational articles, transactional flows (forms), mobile.
• Financial services or highly-regulated industry experience
• Experience working in an Agile environment
• Experience in a highly-matrixed UX copy environment

Responsibilities:
• Collaborating with CX Designers, Content Strategists, Producers, and Researchers on multi-device experiences for online, business education, product information, tools, and applications
• Creating content strategies that meet customer needs and business goals
• Writing and editing copy – you make every word count
• Often acting as project lead, coordinating multi-disciplinary CX project teams, writing creative briefs, estimating scope and sizing, and handling escalations
• Working on large projects as well as ongoing maintenance, both independently and as part of a team
• Working with project teams to understand business goals and identify customer needs
• Partnering with product managers, project managers, developers, business analysts, legal/compliance, and more
• Performing light interaction design and information architecture

Minimum Qualifications:
• 3-5 years of content strategy and writing experience, with at least 1-2 years as an online content strategist and writer for large, public-facing websites (this work is more informational vs. marketing)
• Experience developing and implementing content strategies for large sites or large sections of sites
• Experience leading multi-disciplinary project teams
• Deep familiarity with user-centered design principles
• Experience developing and owning digital editorial standards and guidelines
• Experience managing vendors and contractors
• Superb communication skills, both verbal and written
• Demonstrated ability to persuade partners and diplomatically resolve conflict
• Excellent organization and attention to detail
• Expert knowledge of Microsoft Word and comfort with PowerPoint
• Familiarity with content management systems
• Some experience with information architecture

Additional Information:
• Duration of role: 18 months
• Location: onsite in San Francisco, CA or Oakland, CA
• 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday
