Content Publishing Assistant/Junior Front End Developer

Our client, one of the world's largest gaming and technology companies, are looking for a Technical Content Publishing assistant to work on their online service during a major new product launch. This is a rare opportunity to join one of the biggest and most respected technology companies and offers great opportunities for career progression.

The role is offered at up to £25,000 + benefits and will be on an initial contract lasting until the 1st of February 2014, with the option to extend.

You will ideally have some previous experience of coding HTML5 and JQuery, not necessarily to professional level, but a degree in Computing or some internship experience would be an advantage. You will also have a keen interest in gaming and digital entertainment.

The Programming team is responsible for publishing promotional content for the client’s product, working with a wide variety of partners to develop promotional ideas, build appropriate graphics and experiences, write and/or edit content, manage publishing schedules and ensure user experience meets the highest bar for quality, consistency and technical accuracy.

Key areas of responsibility:

Primary role: As a member of the Programming team, this position requires programming of the promotions on the EMEA platform with content updates according to promotional content calendars.
• Using proprietary CMS (content management system) tool, build & publish content to the platform
• Ensure all content is rigorously QA’d prior to publish
• Update Producer clearly and regularly on status of all weekly tasks and on-going projects
• Submission of copy to localise with translation agency as required
• Maintenance of all operations related documentation
• Escalate project issues & questions, stakeholder issues, Dashboard issues to internal stakeholder, Associate Producer or Producer
• Cross collaboration with design for related BDE projects, raising any escalations to the Producer
• Cross collaboration with internal stakeholders to secure content featured within BDE’s or calendared content as detailed in weekly promotional calendars
• Suggest Process Improvements to Associate Producer or Producer

Success Criteria:

* Quick transition into team – getting up to speed on tools and the EMEA focus
* Keeps platform fresh with new content on a daily/weekly basis across all markets with 100% accuracy
* Demonstrates ability to work with Production Operations team to resolve technical issues
* Understands regional sensitivities and priorities
* Identifies asset requirements with keen attention to detail
* Aids in the production and construction of content using content management tools
* Works well as part of a team, as well as independently
* Creative thinking to resolve roadblocks and issues
* Proactive with fast reaction skills when content may require changing/updating quickly

Experience and Professional Qualification Requirements:

Essential:

* An extensive knowledge of the Computer Games industry
* Excellent communication skills
* HTML 5
* CSS
* Jquery
* Experience of working in a deadline-driven environment
* Experience of working to schedules in a daily or weekly content publishing environment
* Proven working knowledge in creating content for multiple audience types in an online environment, preferably in the entertainment industry
* Experience & proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word)
* Intermediate Photoshop
* BA/BSc or equivalent


Desirable:

* Fluency in one or more European languages beneficial but not essential
* Strong editorial skills, particularly an ability to write concise headlines and descriptions that adhere to tight character restrictions
* Degree in information management, communications, English, journalism or related discipline
* LUA / Flash Action Scripting knowledge
