Job Title: Content Editor
Start Date: ASAP
Location: London Victoria
Salary: Up to £37K
Contract will run until the end of June and will roll on until September and potentially further still.

Our client’s homepage team identifies the best content for readers and creates a homepage, which is Best in Class. With clever headlines and a dynamic mix of content, homepage editors set the tone of the website. They ensure a timely mix of features and real-time coverage. Editors are responsible for driving revenue to the site and meeting KPIs.
The purpose of the role is to reflect the best of the client and its partners on the homepage and entry points. To write exciting and clever headlines to make the audience choose our client. Your content will also help drive traffic to channels, partner sites and other search tools.

Key Accountabilities:
- To reflect the best of now on the client’s UK homepage, mobile and slate device
- Make sure homepage content is real-time, engaging, witty and memorable
- To work on a variety of entry points and platforms as required by the business
- Create a buzz around the homepage
- Reach out to the audience through social media
- Handle breaking news quickly and professionally
- Make an impact through picture choice
- Juggle competing interests of partners
- Balance the real-time philosophy with revenue-critical promotion
- Liaise professionally with other parts of the company, including the inventory manager, special promotions and sales
- Promote and support the products, charitable work and the other search part of the company.

- Increase click through rate from homepage
- Increase unique users
- Increase dwell time on homepage
- Increase traffic to mobile and slate devices
- Increase social engagement with the site
- Increase search transfers
- Reach revenue targets for partners
- Aid channels in hitting PV targets

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
• Essential Experience
- Proven experience of setting the news agenda at editor level
- Will have covered daily news for a website, newspaper or magazine
- Must be passionate about popular culture and sport and demonstrate extensive knowledge of both
- Must be passionate about UK and international news and have proven experience of covering both
- Must have a track record of smart news judgment
- Must write stop-you-in-your-tracks headlines
- Be able to demonstrate an ability to operate under pressure
Demonstrate a great eye for pictures
- Be able to demonstrate a love for and involvement in social media

• Technical / Functional Skills:
- Adobe Photoshop
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Good understanding of SEO

• Working hours:
- Ability to work a varied shift pattern from 0700 to midnight, seven days a week, and out of hours as editorially necessary

• Personal Attributes / Interpersonal Skills
- Very strong team player, with ability to work on own initiative
- Proven record of leading an editorial team with enthusiasm and good humour
- Should be a forward thinker
- Must be confident in giving presentations

• Qualifications
- Should be educated to degree level
- Special Requirements/Additional Information e.g. Language skills

**Editing experience required. Strong writing, editing, project management, communication and organization skills required. Must have the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work as part of a team. Bachelor's degree in Journalism, English or a field related to the subject area in which they will be working is required. The candidate can have a fairly open background but it would be ideal if they had good news and celeb knowledge.
