Content Design Writer for Healthcare Company

We’re looking for a talented content designer/writer for a well known, large Healthcare company in Watertown! We’re looking for a content writer who can be highly involved with our UX and design team.


This content writer is an individual contributor role within the Experience Design group—collaborating closely with experience designers, product managers, and engineers to generate content to support design and development work.

You will define and own a User Interface content style guide and author Design System content that product managers, experience designers, and engineers rely upon to understand how best to design and build high-quality healthcare interfaces. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure content is findable, easy-to-understand, and appropriate for diverse users. This is not a marketing job; you will be creating content for our Design System and guidelines for how to create content for our customer-facing products.



Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

65% Design System content creation and maintenance

  • Create and shape content guidelines and best practices
  • Generate and maintain design system content outlining design principles and providing instructions for how to properly use UI components
  • Create content “templates” for use in our applications. Including, but not limited to transactional and instructional copy, usage directions, informational and error messages, tooltips, links, and buttons
  • Ensure content is grammatically correct, meets guidelines for quality, and is tonally correct for the audience before released


20% Collaborate with teams and stakeholders

  • Meet with cross-functional teams including designers, product managers and developers to define and add new content guidance to the design system
  • Advise on content questions from scrum team designers and tech writers


15% Support UX activities and initiatives

  • Lead or work closely with designers on information architecture initiatives
  • Participate and contribute to early product exploration
  • Provide content and guidance for user research frameworks, reports, and other deliverables

Education, Experience, & Skills Required:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in English, Communication, Journalism, Business Writing, or related disciplines or work experience
  • 5+ years of professional writing and editing experience, preferably in healthcare
  • Exceptional grammar, writing, and editing skills
  • Maniacal attention to detail
  • Strong understanding of user experience/design
  • Previous enterprise experience a plus
