The Opportunity

Fueled by consumer delight in being able to watch instantly unlimited movies and TV shows, subscriber growth has been enormous in recent years with the company as it plans to expand to the rest of the world by the end of 2016. The Role:
The Manager - Consumer PR - will be a member of a seasoned group of marketing professionals helping formulate, execute and sustain the brand in Japan. The Communications function is viewed by senior management as strategically critical to building on the company's already impressive success in a fast-changing, highly competitive global media landscape. The Manager will help build on our brand and support the global expansion around the rest of the world. He/She will play a critical role in helping to lead our local agencies as we promote new content on the service, lifestyle stories, and the overall brand. Projects could include: leading creative PR programs, working with lifestyle press to incorporate our service into their stories, and working with influencers. This role reports to the VP of Marketing in Japan and will be based out of our office in Tokyo.


About You:
• The successful candidate for the Consumer PR role will likely possess 6-8 years in in-house and/or agency settings. Experience working at or with an agency is preferred
• Of particular interest are candidates with backgrounds in entertainment or retail brands, silicon-valley style environments, journalism or political campaigns who are used to working in a fast-paced environment that requires agility, selflessness and intense focus
• Be fluent in social media and PR in order to partner effectively with these groups on campaigns
• Have played a leading role in managing big, long-term campaigns for major lifestyle brands
• Have experience managing agencies or deep experience within agencies working across multiple pieces of business and managing a team
• Experience working in multiple industries including general lifestyle, entertainment and consumer technology
• Be capable as serving as a company spokesperson among lifestyle press
• Really love entertainment...being a TV and movie junkie is even better
• Love brands, appreciate a good brief and understand what to do with a genuine insight
