AQUENT is seeking an Internal Communications Specialist for an exciting opportunity in Richmond, VA!

This communications specialist will provide communications and change management support for a major initiative. Coordinated and sustained communications will play a critical role in shaping the culture and achieving initiative goals.

The candidate will own the development and execution of communication and change management plans for this program and related initiatives in support of the initiative. In addition, the candidate will provide communications support for local organizational initiatives and will leverage multiple channels, including web, portal, email, PowerPoint presentations and other emerging channels.

Communications Responsibilities:
Developing project change management and communication plans
Updating and overseeing the development of web content
Seeing all communications through the approval process to release
Supporting project events, including key events and launches
Reviewing the effectiveness of all communications channels and making recommendations to program leadership
Generating story leads, interviewing subjects and SMEs, researching topics for articles and drafting messages of variable length and complexity

Stakeholder Consulting Responsibilities:
Establishing schedule for periodic check-ins with workstream leadership
Assessing and revising existing workstream-level communications plans to meet clients' needs
Assisting project managers (PMs) as needed on specific communications needs
Integrating local-level and program-level communications schedules
Providing feedback and ideas to customers to ensure communications are meeting their needs

Requirements for this position
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Effectively communicate across many levels (senior executives to team members)
Degree in English, Journalism, Communications or related discipline
3+ years of business or journalistic writing experience
Experience with communications channel development and maintenance
Strong familiarity with financial services industry terms and concepts
Expert with Microsoft Office suite (especially MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
Expert with Content Management systems, HTML and Photoshop a plus
Experience with creating and maintaining communication plans

Preferred experience
2+ years of experience in the financial services industry
2+ years of experience working with IT teams on large-scale projects
Experience with building and maintaining a program website and/or program wiki

Ability to grasp core ideas from complex material and express them accurately and compellingly
Ability to quickly determine specific communications needs within a diverse audience
Highly motivated and self-directed
Demonstrated analytical and quantitative skills
Ability to collaborate across areas of the company
Excellent Project and/or Process Management and organizational skills
Proven problem solving and critical thinking abilities
Ability to work independently and within a team environment
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, handling multiple tasks and issues simultaneously
