Communications Manager (3months contract to hire)

The ideal candidate will be assertive, have a good work ethic and good delivery. Must also be deadline conscious, detail oriented, committed, collaborative and responsible.

General Statement of Duties:
Create and manage public relations and communications programs that effectively articulate our clients mission and objectives and promote the organization and the industry. Manage media relations, social media, monthly columns, blog, communications plans and tactics, update e-newsletter, and other activities as assigned by director. Serve as marketing department’s project manager.

A. Public and Media Relations
• With support and guidance from Director of Marketing, define and develop metrics to evaluate PR strategies. Develop communications plan outlining strategy, deliverables and timelines. Develop, cultivate and manage media relationships with both trade and consumer media; maintain regular contact and communication with key media entities and relevant business press; serve as primary media contact.
• Write, edit and distribute press releases on a regular basis; seek opportunities to provide editorial content and stories for placement through aggressive, proactive media relations strategies.

B. Social Media
• Develop and implement a social media strategy along with the Director of Marketing, and coordinate with stakeholders across the organization to ensure its effectiveness. Manage social media campaigns and day-to-day activities.
• Manage presence in social networking sites including Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook and other similar community sites, posting on relevant blogs, and seeding content into social applications as needed. Become an advocate of the organization in social media spaces, engaging in dialogues and answering questions where appropriate.

C. Communications
• Manage projects for marketing team, ensuring deliverables are completed on time and within budget. Develop new strategies and sources for editorial content, delivery methods and feedback mechanisms. Link readers to clients website and other vehicles when possible and appropriate.
• Assist marketing department in the development and enforcement of consistent, comprehensive graphic and stylistic standards for all electronic and printed communications.
