Communications Manager

Our healthcare clients is looking for a Communication Manager who will be responsible for developing, implementing and evaluating marketing communications strategies and plans that drive profitable membership growth and ensure all company products and communications maintain company brand.

Responsibilities:

• Play a leadership role with marketing team members and Corporate.
• Work with Brand Communications, Customer Service, product development and other internal parties to develop and execute multichannel communications based on marketing strategies and plans targeted to brokers/producers/consultants, employers, members, and consumers to drive profitable membership growth through acquisition and retention in accordance to the annual business marketing plan.
• Translate complex brand and marketing strategies into communications plans to achieve specific acquisition and retention targets.
• Ensure that any communication materials are consistent with our brand strategy.
• Partner with corporate communications to ensure consistency in messaging and communications strategies for all lines of business and public relations.
• Conduct research and competitive data analysis to maximize communications effectiveness.
• Work with internal partners and vendors insure all products and communications are consistent with the brand requirements and guidelines and brand is maintained and represented correctly in the marketplace.
• In partnership with marketing consultants/strategists, campaign managers/specialists, corporate communications, and product development.
• Coordinate and supervise multi-channel communication activities that raise broker/producer/consultant, employer and member awareness of product offerings and benefits.
• Plan and execute complex communications projects with limited review after the general framework has been agreed upon.
• Lead complex industry communication effectiveness analyses to generate and evaluate new ideas for promotions, articles, press releases, publicity, etc. and ensure coordination and consistency with marketing consultants/strategists, campaign managers/specialists, customer service, product development and other internal parties.
• Create and update high-profile and complex communications to strategic clients and internal stakeholders.
• Delegate activities/projects among communications specialists; monitor progress, and provide guidance as appropriate, to ensure timely results.
• Participate in performance evaluations of communications specialists and provide training and development to staff as needed.

Education/Requirements:

• A BA/BS in a related field such as communications, marketing, public relations or business with at least one year in a health insurance environment and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Strong knowledge of marketing communications principles and practices including product promotion, placement and pricing techniques.
• Ability to independently develop, implement and evaluate internal and external communications plans.
• Detailed knowledge of health plans and insurance products, services and their financial drivers.
• Excellent interpersonal, collaboration and communication (written and verbal) skills.
• Excellent project management and organizational skills with attention to details.
• Knowledge of legal, brand, and regulatory compliance requirements for marketing and communicating about health insurance plans.
• Ability to multitask with multiple deadlines and/or milestone requirements.
• Good analytical and quantitative skills with ability to use advanced features of Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
• Ability to influence decision makers.
• An MBA is preferred.
