Communications Manager

National non-profit based in Washington, DC is seeking a Communications Manager who can start right away. Strong preference towards candidates who have web and media experience. A lot of this role entails someone to post on their website, and manage their social media pages by posting relevant articles or newsletters. If you have experience working in immigration reform, or have written on topics around the refugee crisis, than you will be a shoe in! Strong writing skills are required, as well as someone who is very business professional and can easily work in team environments.

General MRS Responsibilities:

  • Manages media relations for the organization such as op-eds, news releases, interviews, social media, and placement of articles in coordination with organization's Public Affairs.

  • A key priority will be communicating the bishops’ message on immigration reform. Will work closely with consultant hired to spearhead this project, as well as organization's staff, to best implement this important campaign.

  • In consultation with organization's Public Affairs, produces articles and press releases highlighting program successes for distribution to targeted audiences.

  • Ensures that new information – i.e., articles, stories, events, etc. – are regularly posted on the organization's web site. Tracks and evaluates web site and social media activity to assess and measure audience participation and determine resulting action.

  • Promotes and lends input to the development of publications and initiatives. Manages the distribution and maintenance of all print and electronic material including newsletters, brochures, annual reports, and similar communications vehicles for external audiences.

  • Coordinates communications support of special activities and events.
