Communications Manager

Our healthcare client is seeking a Communications Manager to work in Monterey Park, CA. This is a contract with the possibility of direct hire. Will require drug and background screening.

The Communications Manager is responsible for the development and implementation of a communications plan for health plan operations of our client including its Medi-Cal and Medicare business. The responsibilities include internal communications to all health plan employees, and management of external communications including issues, media relations and opinion leader engagement. As such, the Manager will have dual reporting to the Director, Internal Communications and the Vice President, Corporate Communications.

The Communications Manager works closely with executive leadership and key stakeholders to design and implement communications programs that ensure organizational team alignment for effective implementation of communications plans. The Manager plays a critical role in promoting, supporting and implementing the interests and goals of the President of the health plan. The Manager works in close coordination with the Internal Communications and Corporate Communications teams.


Internal Communications

· Designs and implements an internal communications brand and approach
· Partners and advises executive leadership on an internal communications program to drive “line of sight” to strategic goals and execution, build confidence in our client’s strategy and build employee engagement.

Key communications program tactics include:
o Develops message platforms to ensure consistency and alignment with enterprise-wide and external communications
o Designs, schedules and implements annual, quarterly and monthly team events
o Consults and writes executive presentations, talking points
o Interviews, writes and publishes executive blogs and internal news stories featured on our internal social media platform
o Develops creative briefs and concepts to execute across a variety of media (videos, webinar presentations, events/meetings)
o Supports HR and Internal Communications delivery at enterprise-wide meetings, webcasts, online town halls, leader lunches, leadership forum and VP off sites
· Leverages employee feedback channels, monitors real-time feedback, analyzes data, and makes recommendations to continuously improve communications approach.
· Partners with other leaders, stakeholders and communicators on strategic programs/campaigns
and change initiatives in support of corporate objectives

Corporate Communications
• Anticipates and manage issues and challenges to the Medi-Cal and Medicare lines of business. Proactively prepare for potential issues, and respond quickly to unforeseen issues, gathering information/details to defend company positions in coordination with the business units and functional areas, Government Affairs and Legal Department.
• Develops, disseminate and coordinates messaging on corporate-level issues or programs for use by all communications representatives in the company. Writes messaging documents including talking points, Q&A, statements/press releases, letters, alerts, etc. Manages ambiguity inherent in complex healthcare environment, including political and competitive sensitivities, ensures leadership alignment and secure approvals from applicable departments.
• Promotes messages and strategy through opinion leader engagement and media relations.
o Works closely with Director, Community Outreach and Enrollment on opinion leader and community based organization engagement and relations.
o Responds to media inquiries in a timely manner. Pitch reporters on positive stories about products or programs.
• Builds and manages relationships with our client’s communicators to strengthen communications consistency across the company and enhance the role of the Corporate Communications department.
