Communications Coordinator

Come and work for one of the largest membership organizations in the United States! My client is seeking a Communications Coordinator to sit onsite in their Washington, DC office. This is a long term contract opportunity.

This position requires a highly energetic and motivated individual with a strong desire to succeed. Candidate must be extremely detail-oriented and possess knowledge of the communications and public relations industries.

JOB DUTIES:
* Writes, edits and coordinates content for volunteer communications, including: electronic memos, letters, tele-town halls, and regular newsletters.
* Oversees and coordinates formal responses to incoming correspondence to the vice president and national director’s volunteer-facing email account.
* Drafts and coordinates content, including the procurement of stock photos, for a monthly consumer-facing column (as part of a broader Education & Outreach initiative).
* Supports social media outreach, tracks social media engagements and develops quarterly and annual reports.
* Works with a strategic communications agency to coordinate media requests and interviews, and support strategic event communications, as needed. Works with a marketing and advertising agency on event management and consumer-facing communications deliverables, as needed.

REQUIREMENTS:
* 4-year degree in Communications, Public Relations or related field preferred.
* Knowledge of AP Style Guide and experience in communications industry.
* Knowledge of social media outlets and professional experience managing accounts.
* Work requires professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
* Strong MS Office skills; Experience with Adobe InDesign and Photoshop is a bonus, but not required.
