Communications Consultant

Aquent's client is looking for a Communications Consultant who will lead the development and implementation of integrated communication strategies in support of Field Communications strategic priorities and client business objectives. Communication strategies primarily encompass field communications, but may extend to employee, external (public and media relations). The consultant will develop and employ print and electronic media solutions that inform, educate, and influence the primary field audiences, as well as a range of target audiences which may include the company’s clients, prospects, key influencers, employees and other stakeholders. The consultant will work under the guidance of, and in collaboration with, the assistant director of field communications and/or the client relationship manager to provide communications counsel, planning and implementation to a range of internal clients, including senior management, department heads, division leaders and project leaders. Engages with and guides communications teams from throughout the enterprise to educate them on field communication best practices and to collaborate on project execution. The consultant is responsible for the successful execution of communication strategies to achieve client business objectives and support operating.

Principal Accountabilities:
- Consult with clients regarding their business and communication objectives. Based on these consultations, develop annual communication plan and/or write communication strategies that support or drive desired business outcomes.
- Plan and/or manage the measurement of the effectiveness of field communications and/or return on investment
- Maintain and consult to field communication guidelines and best practices that assist’s the enterprise in developing effective field communication strategies and action plans
- Cultivate and expand client relationships by developing knowledge of financial services industry; company strategy; and the client’s business, products, services, and audiences. Proactively make relevant strategic connections and recommend communications strategies to achieve client business outcomes.
- Ensure planning and delivery of effective integrated communication solutions through collaborative working relationships with each functional area of Communications department and company-wide partners, as appropriate.
- Engage with and guide communications teams (may include public relations specialists, writers, creatives, researchers, external consultants, etc.) to plan, conceive, develop and implement communication solutions, including range of traditional and non-traditional venues, media, channels and tactics.
- Execute key aspects of communications strategies, with particular emphasis on writing key messages, supporting documents (news releases, FAQs, copy concepts, etc.), news articles, collateral, etc.
- Collaborate with the client relationship manager who is responsible for the overall health and growth of client relationships. Achieve client satisfaction with the quality and effectiveness of communication counsel, services and products in support of their business outcomes. Conduct periodic updates, and identify and implement improvements as appropriate.
- Guide the work of internal partners, outside vendors, contractors, freelancers, etc., as appropriate, to ensure that execution supports the communications strategies and achieves client objectives.
- Plan and/or manage the measurement of the effectiveness of communications support and/or return on communications investment.
- Identify and connect collaborations across teams and clients, as appropriate.

Communications Consultant:
- Works independently and is responsible for the same principal accountabilities as the senior communications consultant. In contrast to the senior consultant, the consultant is assigned to clients with moderate degree of planning complexity and scope; overall size; and frequency of demands.
- Works more frequently in tandem with relationship manager, senior consultant and/or functional leader on designated programs and initiatives. Counsels with manager in communications planning process.
